Believe it or not, Ripley, the latest Paul Gardner column in Soccer America (7/29) actually praises MLS:
"There is one very postive conclusion that MLS can draw, immediately, from the World Cup results: that the level of play in MLS is up to the standards of most pro leagues."
And the latest ESPN Magazine (8/5) compliments US soccer:
"... the Americans ... taught many of their countrymen why people all over the world obsess over this game. 'Are we there as a soccer country?' said coach Bruce Arena. 'Not yet, but we're getting there.' And fast."
