Thought I'd start a match thread for this huge match today. If we get a result, we put distance between us and Bolton (who lost yesterday), and we catch Spurs and overtake Arsenal for that precious fourth spot in the table. Sadly, MGP will probably not play due to his injury, while Spurs have a pretty full team to pick from.
Blackburn (from): Friedel, Enckelman, Pedersen, Neill, Savage, Nelsen, Khizanishvili, Reid, Gray, Tugay, Bentley, Todd, Kuqi, Emerton, Bellamy, Matteo, Dickov, Mokoena, Sinama-Pongolle, Peter.

Keane struck with a great individual effort early, but Rovers have had most of the play since. 28 minutes in now.

Friedel did a great job to save Mido's free kick on the edge of the box, but the rebound came to Keane who put it in to make it 2-0. To be honest, it looked like he may have controlled it with his arm.
Moments later, Bellamy served in a perfect cross to Sinama-Pongolle who in turn provided a nice diving header to rightfully get Rovers back in the game.
2-1 at the half.

.
What happened to award the free kick? Matchtracker states Nelsen miscontrolled the ball and played it with his hand. What's your take? I believe you are watching the game.

Yeah, it did come off of his hand, so I can't really argue with the free kick.

Well that was rubbish. Tie it up only to concede immediately. 3-2 now.

Sinama-Pongolle set Bellamy up nicely there to tie it up at two.
Lennon really skint Gray to give Mido that chance to promptly put Spurs back up.
What a frustraing game.

3-2 to Spurs it is.
I can't even put into words how much I feel that this game was one for the taking.

Don't get me wrong here; I'm pretty happy with the way we played today. On any other day, we would have won this game.
I'm just disappointed that they didn't get anything from this game. That wasn't really there fault as much as it is the nature of the game sometimes.
You're right; if we play like this more times than not, we better get our passports ready to go on a tour of Europe next season.

Frustrating indeed. What the hell was Todd doing watching that ball go across in front of him, and why was Mido wide open as well? And his challenge on Keane for goal number one was not that impressive either.
But yeah, we played well. I just don't like giving up 3 goals, especially when they could have been stopped.
Hopefully we can get 3 wins in our next three: Villa (H), Boro (H) and Sunderland (A). If we don't get at least 7 points we've let ourselves down.

This was a very entertaining game and if the scoreline had reflected the play, it would have been Spurs 1 - 3 Rovers.
This is my first season of watching soccer. I've tried rooting for Liverpool but they are boring and don't seem interested in scoring. I couldn't understand why they didn't play Sinama-Pongolle more often. I was just starting to come around to Blackburn when I learned that they had added Florent to the roster. That first missed chance in this game was really lame, but at least he was there to nail home Bellamy's cross for the first goal.
It's a joy to see the way Bellamy works so hard. His lead up for the Arsenal goal really sticks with me. By the way, is that the injury that still has Pedersen out?

Welcome to the life of being a Rovers fan. It can be, um, interesting at times. :o Regardless, it's rewarding to support a smaller club that has a tendency to punch well above its weight.
Pedersen's hamstring problem is probably going to keep him out for a couple more games, but with Bellamy and Sinama-Pongolle linking up so well after a few games together, Pedersen's absence may not be as serious as it would have been last season or the first half of this term.
I really, really hope we do all we can to secure Sinama-Pongolle to a permanent deal this summer.

What was all the hating on Robbie Savage about? Was it general "you're a brute" or do the Spurs fans have a particular gripe with him?

All of the clubs and fans hate Robbie Savage... he's a very emotional, dedicated, perseverant player -- a right irritating SOB when he's not on YOUR team. His last club, Birmingham, absolutely detest Robbie, primarily due to the way in which he left them. He was even getting death threats at the time!! When Rovers play Brum (Birmingham) you can hear the fans screaming absolutely nasty stuff at Sav, even through the telly. It doesn't faze him, though; he has often said that having fans jeer at him actually motivates him to step up his game and prove them wrong.
It should be noted, however, that Savage has had run-ins with Spurs magician and Irish captain Robbie Keane in the past. But, it is unlikely that the Spurs fans had any real knowledge of that; it is my understanding that Robbie V. Robbie has been kept low key.

You left out cute. I pointed him out to my wife and she made it clear that she wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers.

Cute? That goes without saying!!! If you want smashing, though, have your wife check out ex-Rover Steph Henchoz, who is now a defender for Wigan. 'E's the epi'ome of sharpness.
