I think Cristian Ziege is still capable of making a miracle out of a freekick.

From his rocking chair???

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Ziege hasn't played for Tottenham since May 2004.

He's been with Gladbach the past two seasons and hasn't played a match this season.

I thought he'd actually retired. If he hasn't, he may as well do so......

Yea this forum on the whole is a good forum, much easier to boss than even the China forum (which gets like 1/30th of Germany's traffic).

Boss? Lol. We tolerate you, handsome. :D

I agree that the Germany board is probably the most reasonable board on here. The Bayern board has been invaded by lots of chickens though, and most of them seem to have bird flu.

I don't think it is too late changing tactics at all. Wasn't there a game last year that went pretty wrong for Germany in the first half, but then Klinsmann changed the tactic from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 for the second half and the results were at least better. Was it the Holland game? I don't remember it well, one of the disastrous games at the start of this season. And while I'm at it, didn't Liverpool change from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 at half time vs. Milan last year? Did Klinsmann even watch that game? It's not like he now has to play 3-5-2 in every game, it depends on the opposition which tactic is preferrable and also on the form of the players, but to only use one damn tactical formation without any back up formation to use in case of need is really dumb.

Back then Klinsmann and Löw showed that they are capable of adapting a different tactic if need be, and back then I was hoping maybe they would drop their 4-4-2 mantra and at least try a different formation once in a while, but unfortunately it was all 4-4-2 after that again. Sometimes with good results (France game), but mostly with disastrous results. But what is easily as important as the formation is that the players get the right attitude, look the same team played fairly well vs. France (who are not as good anymore and not as good as Italy, I know I know) because they were fully concentrated and determined not to get played off the field (similar to the Holland game in 2004). These guys must play like that in every damn game, they can't relax and be satisfied with one concentrated performance. Playing without absolute concentration is suicidal for this team.

Yes I think Liverpool changed to 3-5-2, but the main difference was that Hamann came on, which was a big factor in turning the game around. He and Gerrard basically won the CL for Liverpool then.

I don't remember the tactical switch against Holland. I thought Holland basically took it easy in the second half, that's why Germany got much more of the game.

Just for the record, I still believe that playing at home during the World Cup will make a big difference.

PS No DVDs yet. Langsam reichts!

Effe is great for mouthing off.

Klinsi is getting in deep water with a lot of people. But in a way that's great, because he is definetely stirring the pot.

Also, as was said earlier on this thread, the DFB/German FA whining about Klinsi commuting from CA now new what it would be like from the get go, when they originally accepted Klinsmann's conditions.

It sucks to be desperate, which the German FA certainly was, being that Hitzfeld wanted nothing of the Germany post, Rehhagel was happy as a clam coaching Greece, and no one else qualified was truely interested.

Totally agree. I didn't mean anything by posting the message.

But I will say that just because Klinsi took the job when no one else would, that fact does not excuse some of the (in my opinion) ridiculous moves he's made.

I do think it's still a bit early to totally panic, but he doesn't show any signs of wavering from his course.

I totally respect the way he's made changes. Especially getting rid of that stubborn fossil Maier.

However, as we discussed, with me, he took all that respect away with one act. Or shall we say "non-act"??? ;)

I definitely agree that the changes have been good for German soccer. They have become dinos. I am hoping that Berti Vogts will help out as well.
