What do you think it means? Or what is the Withdrawn role?
Who are the masters of this position in your opinion?

LMAO, nah just wanted to clearify something.
What is the Withdrawn role, and who are legends and current players who play there.
Dont worry about the draft, I already have my eyes on a couple of players.

It means someone who plays just off the main striker, trying to link play between midfield and attack.
Players such as Ronaldinho, Rooney, Totti, Del Piero etc etc.

Thanks. Would you consider an attacking midfielder in the diamond 4-4-2 in the withdrawn role?

Not really, the phrase is 'withdrawn striker'.
I'm not sure if I've ever heard it applied to any other formation than 4-4-2 (or at least a formation with two forwards) and the withdrawn striker is the second most advanced postion on the pitch when used.

It can be but it depends how advanced that midfielder. For instance Kaka plays in a similar position in Milan's diamond midfield, behind Shevchenko and Gilardino, but it does tend to be said of a forward who plays off a single striker.

withdrawn forward is the same as support striker... a support striker's job is tied to the forward wheras an attacking midfielder is tied mainly to the midfield.

Benni,
I said "from a withdrawn position" in regards to Donovan's comment on his style and preference to play in the midfield behind the forwards. Those were Donovan's comments in an interview.
I never said "withdrawn role" or "withdrawn striker" or "withdrawn forward".
I know english isn't your first language so I'm trying to be patient with you but if you are going to take this out of context to just troll me then you can piss off.

Wow, someone just drew a shotgun at a chess game...Yeah, because I've already responded to about 5 or 6 posts on this and it's been twisted and misquoted just about every way possible. Then he starts this thread that's misquoted and out of context and tells me about it. He's just trolling.

You said...withdrawn position, what is one supposed to think?
Someone tell me, if you hear "withdrawn position" wont you instantly think of the Bergkamp role?
Then when you think Withdrawn... doest one think deeper than the usual start point, for the designated, or mentioned position?

It all started from a misunderstanding. Then he felt the need to belittle me, because of this misunderstanding.

You said...withdrawn position, what is one supposed to think?Okay English major, listen up.
There's a big difference between saying "a withdrawn position" and "the withdrawn position". I was clearly describing withdrawn as a place "behind" or "removed from" the forwards in reference to Donovan playing in the midfield behind the forwards (plural as in two).
what is one supposed to think?
Well you could have listened to my repeated explanations, gone to the dictionary, or found Donovan's interview to understand what he was saying. Instead, you just troll this to no end.
