Yeah, how stupid. This came up in another thread, which saved me from spending the $ on a camcorder to take to Germany.
They make it sound like fans are going to bring in a camcorder, and instantaneously beam it live across the globe.
Attention World Cup Organizers: All games will be broadcast in HD, LIVE... and with equipment that is far superior to any monkeycam a fan might bring in.
Better ban all TIVOs, VCRs, etc.. as well.

In response to the editing of my previous post:
Clearly I was being sarcastic. Welcome to the Internet. There is far worse out there.

Not trying to get into a pissing match but I've seen much worse, along with personal attacks on these boards. Anyway, have a good one...

what are they going to do about digital cameras that also shoot video???
Or better yet cell phones...it's much easier to email a video through the cell phone....

I don't think they'll be able to do anything about that, because quite frankly, I don't think they'd have enough resources (let alone claim tickets) to have everyone hand over their digital cameras, cell phones, etc.
The devil's in the details here people.

Does anyone else posting to this thread get the feeling there's something going on we don't know about? ;)

I suggest you immediately disband with your rational suggestions. There's nothing to see here.

No but seriously - Germans are friggin anal about cleanliness. They just dont want to have to pick up the confetti. I'm bringing toilet paper if I have to scale the towers to do so.

I bet you could hide at least three rolls in an Uncle Sam top hat. ;)

Damn, that brand new huge suitcase I bought can't be used for my camcorder, confetti, and rolls of paper.

Are you thinking a bidet? http://coldbreak.en.ec21.com/GC01070049/CA00847975/Electronic_Bidet_-_Advanced_Type.html
Back and forth massaging motion. I can almost hear the chuckles from US fans using these for the first time.

You should go to Japan. WC's there come equipped with a multi-buttoned control panel. Temperature controls, spray strength, type and direction, blow dry option, the works. I'm sure after a few beers everyone's curiosity gets the better of them.

Unless you get the traditional style giant slipper deal, in which you learn why it is those ladies outside department stores hand out packets of tissues.
