Bad news:
Bild newspaper (you always have to be critical, they are like the sun)
reported today, that Klinsmann and Löw planed to let Ismael play for the NT,
but this wasnīt possible, because of FIFA law.
Ismael:
"I played for French U21 in a EC qualification match against Hungary in 1996."
His club manager Hoeness explains:
"This was an official match, so the FIFA law works."
And the law (§15.3) says, that Ismael needed to change to the German NT
before he got 21 or needed a parallel citizenship for Germany."
But proposed for the German citizenship this year,
(lived here since 2003 and his grandpa was German)
he will propably get it, but Klinsmannīs defense wonīt
profit from it. :(

Don't worry, I don't see it happening.

He actually would like to see Ismael play for Germany (although the thread title may be a bit misleading).

What's up with you guys? Why this hate for Ishmael? "He must not play at all costs type of attitude." The guy grew up in the part of France which once belonged to Germany.
The last few years, he's plied his trade in the Bundesliga, taking the place of a German.
Besides, Germany have lost plenty of players to other coutries they shouldn't have: Kovac, Klasnic, and the Turkish kid from Dortmund. Think of Ishmael as Kovac's replacement.
If it happens, I'm all for it.

Ismael would be a massive boost for Germany, seeing as how he is an outstanding certer back, and Germany currently are currently horrible, I mean absolutely horrible, in that department.
I think Klinsmann would welcome him with open arms, as would most (smart) German fans. Really, only a stupid German fan would not want Ismael to play for Germany.
But the question is moot since Ismael played for the French youth team in the '90's. He is completely inelligible.
Too bad, though, because Ismael would help plug a huge, massive, gargantuan, astronomical, gigantic (you get the picture) hole in Die Nationalmannschaft.

What's up with you guys?
Who do you mean by this exactly? As nobody in this thread said he doesn't want Ismael to play for Germany, as far as I can tell.

Ah, sorry, i think the thread title is a bit irritating.
I donīt want him not to play for Germany,
i just wanted to report, that Ismael isnīt allowed to play
for Germany (because of FIFA laws).
I will ask a mod, if he can change the title to "Ismael isnīt allowed to play ...".
But your reply surprises me a bit, i never wrote,
that i donīt want to have him at the German NT.
This can only be concluded IMO,
if people only read the topic title, but not the content of the posts.
The "Eisenfuss" has ... won a tackling. :D
