View Full Version : Why can't the MNT make a red jersey???

Why is there such a disconnect between Nike & the USSF on one hand, and the hardcore USMNT fans/Sam's Army???? If all of the fans want to wear red, why not give us what we want. In Germany, I will probably be wearing my 1998 red MNT jersey to the games (despite the horrible memories it provokes) - which IMO, is my favorite all-time Nats jersey.

For those who will wear red to the games, I saw this retro polo/jersey in the Big Soccer Store. It's pricey, but I am thinking about getting it all the same.

Bedcause fans dont pick team colors. If you like red that much, maybe a Canada shirt?? Or in Germany you could follow Poland?

I'm a hardcore USMNT fan but I don't belong to Sam's Army. I'm also a hardcore DC United fan, but I'm not a member of Barra Brava or Screaming Eagles.

I also don't care to wear red. I plan on buying one of each of the new USMNT jerseys and will wear those to the two games I'm attending in Germany. I'll also have a flag.

I am not a facepainter.

I have total respect for the member's of Sam's Army and respect what they do and how they do it - I just choose not to support my team in that way. Doesn't make me less of a fan.

Why don't you try this USMNT WC 06 RED training jersey. It's the same material, has the same crest, and you can get it in white, blue or RED for die hard USMNT fans:)

I think that retro top is freakin awesome. it should be their third jersey in Germany. the blue and white are too good to discard.

I've changed my mind. I found a Red Jersey I can wear to the game at Gelsenkirchen:

Actually, I'm not a member of Sam's Army either and totally respect your viewpoint. Having said that, if the bulk of US supporters will be wearing red, so too will I. Ever seen a Dutch home game, when the entire stadium is clad in orange, or in 2002 when Korea played and the whole crowd was a sea of red. It is an impressive show of solidarity.

That reminds me of a joke...

Why do Tennessee Volunteer fans were orange?

So they can go hunting, pick up trash, and go to the football game all on the same day without changing shirts. :p

I'm not sure the same applies to the Dutch.

The USMNT doesn't manufacture athletic apparel and, judging from some of their other endeavors, if they did I'm sure the colors would run in the wash.

Well white is associated with truces, ceasefires and surrenders. I guess that leaves us with blue. :p

GW wore blue.

Didn't he also wear gold with that blue? Does the mental image of Sam's Shimering Gold Army apeal to anyone? :D
