Glad the speculation is over about Robbie's future. I kept worrying about what I would have to do with my KEANE 10 jersey.

Gratz Keano, excellent bit of business for the club. I wonder what exactly will happen with the Keane/Defoe dynamic now ... interesting.

The opinion amongst some people i spoke to yesterday was that Defoe may get sold in the summer, apparantely Man Utd and Liverpool made late bids on the transfer deadline day so they may come back in the summer.

Defoe is a definite goer in the summer. Liverpool will be his destination in a £15 million switch. That is according to some of my mates.

If you do qualify for the Champions League you'll surely need both of them - as it stands you only have 3 senior forwards.

I'd hate for us to lose Defoe too. Hopefully he'll change his mind when we get into the champions league. (touch wood ;) )

As for keano...what a goal against blackburn! I missed the game, but saw the highlights...that was brilliant!

15 mill is a good, fair price. I think is we get that offer in cash and not wanky exchange deals then we'll take it.

Spend most of that trying to lure Kuijt or some other striker to the Lane and hopefully pick up Cameron Jerome from Cardiff. He's going to be a very tidy striker.

Why would we need 4 strikers anyway? Jol has always admired the Ajax way and they play with 1 main striker - Mido - and two wingers - Lennon/Routy on the right. We just need to sort out the left side in both midfield and defence. If that does come about then we could get away with having just three. Mido and Jerome with another coming in. Keano can play the loan striker role anyway.

I hope and pray this wingerless season is just a one off due to injuries etc and Jol hasn't changed his mind about that next season due to the success we've had with four CMs.

Defoe has just got to learn that the days of a striker starting every game are gone. Mido has been lucky because for a large part of the season he has had no backup (and for the other part he had Rasiak). But even players like Drogba, Crespo and more recently Van Nistelrooy cannot start every game. He's mistaken if he thinks the situation will be any better at Man U or Liverpool.

Why would we need 4 strikers anyway?
4 reasons:
(1) Injury (remember when we had to play Doherty up front because we had shipped off Ferdinand and Rebrov while Keane and Iversen picked up injuries at the same time?)
(2) Loss of form. As we have seen with Keane and Defoe, the rotation allows us to have an in-form striker on the pitch at all times.
(3) Europe. More games means we need a deeper squad.
(4) Cups. Hopefully we can make a decent run in the cups next season - meaning more games and again the need for a deeper squad.

The rest of the paragraph explains the reasoning behind three strikers being enough.

If we do stick with two main strikers up top then of course we need four.

Ideally we would have four anyway but it wouldn't be as crucial if Jol did go with one striker.

Also Doherty was worse than Ratshit. Even when playing up front he was more of a danger to our goal than the oppo's. I agree that that situation was horrible. Iversen, even when fit, was pretty average anyway. Anyway, I'm rambing.

Agreed. However, until we get into the CL most players will always see the grass as greener blah blah.

If does still feel a little moany about it then let him go if we get a fat wad of dough. He's a young, talented striker but he's not crucial to us and we wouldn't suddenly stop playing as we have been if he were to go.

It's pretty much a cert that he'll start the next game anyway. So far I think Jol has handled the strikers well.

I actually blocked it out of my head that he played for us.
