Does anybody know if Zidane considered playing for Algeria after he played for the first time for France in 1994 - I guess so? Or the idea wasnt even mentioned by him?

No, he didn't.
He's French. Born and raised in Marseille. Enough said.

Well of course he admits he has algerian origins...cause it's true lol.
By the way this isn't the same as being originally algerian.

I'd say yes, sounds objective. It's a notion that will get fuzzy after several generations though. Anyway, having players with immigrant origins isn't really new in France ; there are so many examples like Platini, Kopa, Fernandez, etc...

Yes.
If you had said you were originally from Syria, that would mean you were born there and then went to live to the US.

So many Cretins. Why is this issue so hard for people to digest?

Let's turn this around shall we, seeing as people have a hard time with this easy concept.
Why doesn't Oguchi Onyewu want to play for Nigeria?
If you can answer that, you can answer the question of why Zizou plays for France and only France.

If you are born and raised in a country, go through their youth system, don't speak a lick of the language from your supposed home country, how is it difficult to understand that there isn't much of a choice BUT to play for France. When you're French you play for France.
If only Freddie Kanoute could understand that, but different circumstances I suppose.

I think in Kanoute's case it was him deciding to choose Mali after it became clear he wouldn't play for the French national side any time soon. Guys like Chamakh however, clearly had the desire to represent the nation of their fore-fathers at a very early age.
