so, tomorrow I play the team in 3rd place, my biggest rival for 2nd. here are the ratings I put up in a friendly with my A team:

Wicketkeepers
Top Order: strong
Middle Order: competent
Lower Order: woeful
Seam Bowling: strong
Spin Bowling: remarkable
Fielding: mediocre

i've been TIEing it in my last league matches and my team fitness is at Lively and every players personal fitness is at Sublime.

my opponent has been putting up these ratings in his last few matches:

Las Vegas Wildfire
Top Order: remarkable
Middle Order: proficient
Lower Order: abysmal
Seam Bowling: competent
Spin Bowling: proficient
Fielding: mediocre

they have been the same in friendlies and in league matches, so I'm not sure if he is TIEing it in the league matches.

My MO this season has been to use the bowling to my advantage and start my #3 and #4 bowlers open the bowling, with my #1 and #2 guys coming for for their sets of 5 starting at over 11. My top 2 bowlers just popped to remarkable consistency, so I'm hoping the spin bowler rating will be really high. Should I opt to bowl my best seam bowler with my #3 bowler, also a seamer as the openers? Gots to save the spinner for when the ball is a little worn. The pitch is slow and the weather right now is partly cloudy and humid. If that stays, it is advantage bowlers. Should I opt to bowl or bat if I win the toss? I think bowl because that is my strength and will give my batsmen a target to pass.

thoughts?

well, if i win the toss i'm bowling.

got my best bowler opening, my #4 with him, then my #2 and #3, with my all rounder at #5. should be interesting. if anyone wants to follow, my team is the Wicketkeepers.

match ID is 210088

took out his opener first ball!

End of Over 7: 31-1, runrate=4.43
Rose 4-0-9-1
Rimmer* 13 (21 balls)
Bullivant 15 (21 balls)

Rose is doing great, keane is not, but both combined is fine with keeping the run rate down!

End of Over 9: 35-4, runrate=3.89
Rose 5-1-9-4
Rimmer* 16 (25 balls)
Wilkes 0 (1 balls)

Rose is on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!

let's see if my spinner Wild decides to take some wickets today.

24 dot balls in a row! with some wickets thrown in.

End of Over 21: 72-8, runrate=3.43
Gardner 1-1-0-1
Bailey* 0 (2 balls)
Garvey 0 (5 balls)

Last Wicket: Harding c. Rose b. Gardner 2 (FOW: 72/8)

20.6 . Gardner to Garvey
Fullish, straight ball, a little uncertainly drawn forward in defence, taken on the front pad and the ball balloons up in close on the off side.
20.5 . Gardner to Garvey
Wide of off and a solid cut straight to Coleman at point who did well to hang onto that as it was hit with some force.
20.4 . Gardner to Garvey
Shortish, rising ball outside off stump. Garvey shoulders arms and the ball goes through to Nicholas.
20.3 . Gardner to Garvey
Tight shortish ball on off stump, gets right in behind it, defending from the crease with a straight bat, played back to Gardner.
20.2 . Gardner to Garvey
Slower delivery, cut to point, Coleman fielding.
20.1 W Gardner to Harding
That was a ball waiting to be cut, but instead Harding pulled it straight into the hands of Rose. Harding should learn to choose his strokes more wisely.

End of Over 20: 72-7, runrate=3.60
Wild 5-3-5-3
Harding* 2 (9 balls)
Bailey 0 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Wilkes b. Wild 20 (FOW: 72/7)

19.6 . Wild to Bailey
Solid forward defensive shot.
19.5 . Wild to Bailey
Fullish ball angling in on off stump, clipped off the legs straight to mid wicket.
19.4 W Wild to Wilkes
Wilkes had no idea where that was going. The ball spun behind his legs and takes his wicket. That ball will be going down into Wild highlight reel.
19.3 . Wild to Wilkes
All swing and no ping for Wilkes.
19.2 . Wild to Wilkes
Worked around to the on side.
19.1 . Wild to Wilkes
Flat, quick ball bowled by Wild there and it caught Wilkes by surprise.

End of Over 19: 72-6, runrate=3.79
Rose 5-1-29-0
Wilkes* 20 (29 balls)
Harding 2 (9 balls)

Last Wicket: Peacock c. Bryant b. Wild 4 (FOW: 67/6)

18.6 . Rose to Harding
That delivery strays down leg side, catching the pad on the way through. A half-hearted appeal by the keeper but Rose wasn't wasting his breath appealing for that one.
18.5 . Rose to Harding
Harding leans onto his back foot to play a ball which bounced on him a little and he only manages to stroke the ball back down the pitch. Mid off fields.
18.4 . Rose to Harding
Harding has no problem ducking under a high bouncer.
18.3 . Rose to Harding
On the back foot, stroked to the off, cover fielding.
18.2 . Rose to Harding
Good length ball angling away just outside off stump, shoulders arms and through to Nicholas.
18.1 . Rose to Harding
Slower delivery, stroked out to the off.

End of Over 18: 72-6, runrate=4.00
Wild 4-2-5-2
Harding* 2 (3 balls)
Wilkes 20 (29 balls)

Last Wicket: Peacock c. Bryant b. Wild 4 (FOW: 67/6)

17.6 . Wild to Wilkes
Beautiful straight drive but it's hit the stumps at the other end.
17.5 . Wild to Wilkes
Wilkes plays a textbook forward defensive shot. Nice technique.
17.4 . Wild to Wilkes
On the front foot, stroked to the off, Rose fielding.
17.3 . Wild to Wilkes
Floated up full outside off stump, strongly driven but can't get it past a good tumbling save by extra cover.
17.2 . Wild to Wilkes
Forward, played out to a diving cover fielder who did well to stop the ball. No run.
17.1 . Wild to Wilkes
Worked around the legs, square leg running in to field.

Comfortable win over 2nd to go 8 points clear at the top of II :)

Stunning performances from my star batter and star bowler - Fredericks took out their entire top order and a couple of others for his first 5 wicket haul. Chanderpaul hit an unbeaten 102 from 91 balls and didn't even drop from sublime fitness!

Got a wonderful top order today playing it normal with fresh fitness - despite one of my openers only being competent/mediocre.

I only gave up 118 runs to my opponent. After 10 overs I already have 45. Should be a fairly easy win unless something really bizzare happens.

a nice little 6 wicket win.

guess the conditions really did favor the bowlers, as only 6 batsmen made it to double figures!

got an exceptional spin bowling rating! highest rating for my team ever.

Playing series leaders Carib Beer XI away. My bowlers did their job and held them to 241 runs. After 21 overs my runrate isn't quite what it needs to be but they haven't got a wicket yet so there's hope.
End of Over 21: 100-0, runrate=4.76, reqrunrate=4.90 (241-10)

if you are within like 1 or 2 runs of the req run rate with 10 overs left you are almost certain a win. at least that is what happens with my team.

Bluto, why was it you were worrying about tactics, again? :p

Norse is on the way to crushing Shadoedale at home. I played normal, thinking I would be needing some help, but that seems to have been seriously overdoing it. Seargeant had another 155*, making three straight centuries in club play (I think) on top of his midweek one against Australia.

Hmm... you're likely to see a dip in the run rate over the next 19 overs, followed by a spike in the last 10. I think you'll probably get the RR you need if you have the wickets left at the end, but it could be close.

^I was worried about his "remarkable" top order which isn't so remarkable!

Neither of my opening batters got out and I won it in the 43rd over. My runrate really went up in the 33rd over and stayed around 6 or 7 an over until the end.

edit: and this is Carib Beers first loss in league this season.

double edit: and now depending on the NRR I might be in first place.

It could be an interesting ride.

nice work
Thanks. Unfortunately I'm in second on NRR because AFI played a bot and batted first today.
