After a longer break I would like to present the current European club rankings. They are based on the last 30 to 38 games (depending on the the size of the league) in their domestic competition. The points recorded in these games aare multiplies by a national league modifier. This modifier is calculates by the results of a nation`s clubs in the various European cup competitions. The most successful league is given a value of 1 (currently the Spanish League ), the other leagues are rated in relation to them.

Here are the European top 15 leasgues:

Spain 1
England .842
France .833
Italy .791
Germany .762
Portugal .683
Scotland .665
Holland .623
Turkey .590
Switzerland .567
Romania .530
Czech Rep .526
Ukraine .517
Greece .515
Austria .512

By these numbers teams from different leagues can easily be compared. A points gained in England is worth only 84.2% of a Spanish league point. By contrast it is worth 110.5% of a German league point (English modifier .842 divided by German legue modifier .762.

Here are the top 30 European clubs:

Barcelona 2.283
Chelsea 2.138
Real Madrid 1.983
Juventus 1.974
Bayern Munich 1.857
Valencia 1.838
Lyon 1.795
Manchester United 1.735
AC Milan 1.724
Celtic Glasgow 1.653
Inter Milan 1.640
Osasuna 1.627
FC Sevilla 1.619
Villareal 1.611
PSV Eindhoven 1.568
Liverpool 1.568
Bremen 1.525
La Coruna 1.512
Schalke 1.464
Arsenal 1.441

Bordeaux 1.416
Fenerbache 1.410

Looks interesting.

Can you please explain how did you arrive at the "national league modifier"?

Thanks in advance,

Here`s a quick overview how I calculate these modifiers:

I collected data of the various European cup competitions, and added them up country by country, IŽll give you an example:

French clubs played German clubs 38 times the French clubs won 51 points in those games (standard 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw) and the German clubs won 51 points also. That seems to suggest that the two national leagues are equal in their quality of play. But one other value has to be taken into the equation, and that is how those clubs that participated in the 38 games fared in their domestic league. That`s what makes the differnce the French clubs had 1.538 points per domestic game, while the German teams had 1.716. That means the French teams and the German teams were equal when playing each other, the German teams had an easier time gaining points in the Bundeliga, their competition was a little weaker than that of their French counterparts. So it`s fair to say the French league is stronger.
Okay that`s the basic idea shown by the relation of just two leagues , as you might imagine the comparison of some 40 nations or leagues makes this affair just a LITTLE more complicated.....
