fine, Happy Casimir Pulaski Day Observed! :D
My grandmother was Polish (Kopecki), and when she learned of anything Polish in Georgia we had to celebrate it. Kind of a way of staying in touch after my parents moved away from the northeast. With my other grandmother it was all things George Washington, as they lived about 40 min from the site of the Delaware Crossing.
Needless to say, I had plenty of toy soldiers growing up.

Technically, I'd say its more of a socialist system, where the resources are prevented from being accumulated in one BSer. It also prevents a cult of personality though, which is of course a major side effect of actual socialist states.
How's that deck look, Cam? Nice and shiny?
Me? I caulked sinks!
The deck and the house are very shinny! I think it can be spotted from space.;) Now the trim looks crappy compared to the clean house so I'm having to repaint it.:o

The rainstorm w/cold front?
:p
That part I don't know about. That's cool that anyone else even knows of the man, though. Such historical figures are slipping further and further into the realm of obscurity. Props to you two for acknowledging history! :)

That's cool! I love the older ethnic neighborhoods where they grew up. All Polish/Dutch/Scottish churches, complete with scriptures and carvings done in their native tongues. Similar situation for you?
Woe come unto anyone who visits Schenectady NY and searches for a chain sit-down restaurant! Man I'm getting fat just thinking about it. The only Polish phrase she passed on to me, however, was (pheonetically spelled) "Yachee dam dizvatni paskutnic!", which I presume is a somewhat politely scolding or swearing. She'd often mumble the "yachee dam!" when frustrated, which I picked up and used once. Once. ;)

my Dad is from the South Side of Chicago and his neighborhood has changed a lot. it went through some bad times with gangs and crime and stuff in the 80s and 90s. not really sure what it is like now. However, my Grandparents both lived in Bridgeport near Comiskey Park, which contrary to what most people think, is not a bad neighborhood. My great Aunt lived in the house my Grandmother was born in (and my great grandfather built) until 1997. Most of my Dad's relatives worked in the stockyards in Chicago.

i've seen DMB like 12 times. didn't go last summer. if they were playing at Bridgeview, which they will be in the future because it is owned by AEG, then I would go. Alpine would be fun, and I have a 4 day weekend that weekend for the 4th so i wouldn't miss any work!

Info like that is priceless, and I'm trying desperately to peice together a nice family history for our kids. Our parents were part of that first wave of younger families moving FAR away from the extended family, so I'm fearful of losing some neat stuff. My great aunt passed in 2000 and her house, one the family had kept for ages and had so many ties and stories, had to be sold. Hopefully it won't be the same with Grandma's house.
I've asked my dad and Grandma to simply give me documentation of the family history for Christmas the past couple years. Hopefully they'll come through. For what we've been able to track down, Anders is the now the last male with the family name for this branch going back some 9 generations.

Lunch time! Tripping to the bank and home for a quick hug. Back soon.

i love looking up family history. my mom was pissed at my Dad for not buying my great aunt's (his aunt's) house when she moved in 1997 because it was the house where his mom was born. that, and we'd have free parking for White Sox games!
my Dad's family came over in the late 1800s. my mom is Irish, born and raised in Springfield, MA. her family came over a lot earlier then that. I think he grandparents were born in the US.

Actually, my buddy Wooly lives in the traditionally Polish section of Wilmington, known as "Browntown". The Catholic church there is St. Hedwig's.
I live in "The Highlands" neighborhood, and the closest Catholic church (St. Ann's) is in the next neighborhood over, "40 Acres", which is traditionally Irish.

too skinny with small boobs.
I was disappointed, she looks good in the pics but on TV she looked too skinny. Mix in a sandwich, Jessica.
