I thought England played well today. Uruguay didn't threaten much and only took the lead thanks to a fantastic long rabge shot.
England could of scored more with better finishing and I thought they showed great character to come from behind.
Joe Cole was outstanding and looks to finally be solving England's left sided midfield problem. He was the definate man of the match today.
I thought Michael Carrick had a very good game and looks to of booked his place in the squad and should now be pushing to be in the team.
All in all I'm very happy. Well played lads.

What game were you looking at ? England were poor for the first 75 minutes until the Wright-Phillips and Crouch substitutions. The center of the English defence looked porous an Rio Ferdinand sucked.Beckham contributed bugger all and Wright -Phillips caused lots of problem when he came on.

yep, those Uruguayans were running through the England defence at will, weren't they?

Poor for the first 75 minutes? England controlled the whole game and played well. They didn't create too many clear cut chances but it was a good team performance and Rooney and Joe Cole were great.

I must have heard another game...
England struggled to finish off a young Uraguay. Verdict - Not impressive.

You say you must of heard another game! So you didn't actually watch the game. Listening to commentary can be misleading. England dominated, Robinson didn't have a difficult save to make all game. Uruaguay basically put a lot of men behind the ball and so England had to be patient when attacking.
They still managed to create some good chances

exactly :D
im cautiously optimistic at present, still room for plenty of improvements. As for crouch despite the goal still not sure if he would be any good against a better team. Still he looked ok today so im not going to diss him.

A higher calibre team would have punished Ferdinand's mistakes. And they wouldn't concede sloppy goals like that.

Does not compute.

I guess the question is which goal(s) you consider sloppy?

I was really impressed with hw they played! I wathced alot of the international matches, and I'd say that England had the best interplay and team work. They were a pleasure to watch, and almost a constant threat.

They missed A Cole on the wing pushing forward. Terry and Ferdinand (where I lay the blame) were not great together, but still didn't get beat often. They missed that last pass and midfield connection that Gerrard has. Not a bad game though really, just inconsistant. It was a well composed comback, and winning a game late, even in a friendly helps the confidence. A game like this did more to set up roster spots and learn more about the character of the team than a 5-0 blowout would, we'd all just rather watch the 5-0 blowout. (Oh and all the American input is because this game made televison on the day of the match, that and well, we know everything).

I was slightly disappointed. Yeah, England won and kept going until final whistle and Cole was fantastic, etc. But that was a long way off WC contender form.

It was only a friendly but England knock it about ok. Considering Mourinho managed Deco I ain't surprised JC is doing well, he's had to work his way into the Chelsea and England 1st team.
