It's nothing bad IMO. Seems like it's a deal for the two teams to kind of work with each other, friendlies, marketing each other, etc.

A smaller scale version of the Yank-mes and ManUre deal.

After the report that they were going to change the teams name I was a bit surprised that so much time had passed with the new name not being announced. Maybe this is the reason why. Club America, USA (Houston)?

ok *whew* I thought they were going to become Tigres USA or something awful like that...

now is this too offensive for the Mexican Americans in Dallas who dont support Tigres? :p

They should buy Houston, not Dull-ass. The team formerly known as the Dirty-Sissies needs a name, and "Tigres" would go with their orange and black theme.

Or they could be just playing a friendly or two, or some kind of Moreila-Chicago type relationship.

Nuttin to worry about...

My friend, you must read a bit more. I'd tend to doubt the FC Dallas and Tigres are going to rename the (rivals for Dallas) Houston team to the name of (rival of Tigres) a Mexican team. ;)

I don't think Tigres is buying Dallas anyway. It's a partnership as far as I have heard.

I have nothing really to base this one other than pure speculation and my rotten brain.

We all heard the Club America buying a franchise speculation for what 2+ years now.
After watching the chivas fiasco, who would want to start from scratch. Houston's TV market + mexican owner + texas + established winning franchise= instant winning club and super sweet deal +theoretical $$$$$$$$$$ with no throw away seaosns. AEG make some $$$$ on their investment.
The rummors about the sharks owner considering buying San Jose (one of his complaints was the staium). Gets to start from scratch, with no bogus rented statium deal. He already has the fan base (who got screwed). MLS gets 2 new owner investors.:D
uh huh? uh huh? see? see?

.... well screw you too... it made sense in my head:(

I'm going to go have another beer

it'll be an announcement of a partnership like Morelia and Chicago have. Nothing major.

Is it possible that MLS is mirroring NHL growth patterns? USA + Canada in hockey ~ USA + Mexico in soccer...

I guess that makes more sense since soccer is a 'world' game...

Is there any reason why MLS should restrict any potential relationships with other countries?

right, and canada wouldnt be able to support their own league, so its better for them

there should be a restriction on other countries club teams owning our teams because they dont think we know how to play, or think they can do it better...corporate partners (yankees+manure) are more logical and gives new leagues chances to breathe. you dont see England buying and running all the teams in A League because they consider themselves better than the aussies who play rugby more than soccer...

Hopefully this partnership leads to some Tigres/FCD matches in Mexico, FCD (and by association, MLS) marketing down there, things like that.
