We are looking at a real mixed bag due to injuries. Some of our regulars are down, Nicol has been experimenting with lineups and we have a bunch of new reserves we don't know well. So who will we play in the second leg?

Starters from last game that I think will return to their spot - ?s are ?s

Reis

? -- Heaps -- Hernandez -- Franchino

? -- Dorman -- Joseph -- Lochead

Twellman -- ?

Don't know where Dempsey will be, or Pepe. What about some of the new guys? Any thoughts?

Pepe up front? No way that happens.

Might we see some of the draft picks?

exciting and scary all at once. poor new guys.. they don't realize they are coming home to a lynching if they don't win

It's between how much they want to blood the newbies and how much they want to win the game. Which I think is a toss-up.

Didn't he sub in as a forward in the last game? I actually like that line-up, with Pepe playing as a tweener.

Are we sure Ralston, Marshall, DeO and Parkhurst are going to be out?

I thought he subbed in at midfield. Remember Demps and Twellman started up front.

From teh sound of it. DeO is probably wont be ready. Ralston and Noonan would be borderline back. I can't imagine marshall would be ready then either. Parkhurst maybe. but with so many injuries it's hard to keep track of whether it's been 3 weeks for this guys, 6 for him, 2 for .....etc.
And with guys like Rally and Noon, you are putting both their shot at wc and the reg season start in trouble if you push them back before they are ready

This is what I would like to see:

4-3-1-2
Reis
Riley, Heaps, Hernandez, Franchino
Dorman, Joseph, Lochhead
Cancela
Twellman, Dempsey

Dorman did a decent job filling in at right wing last season in a couple situations, so I would like to see him out wide...

Insert Parkhurst for Danny Boy if he's ready to go.
I think this lineup keeps the best players on the field at positions that they can be dangerous in.

I'm afraid however that we'll see something like this:

straight up 4-4-2
Reis
Riley, Heaps, Hernandez, Franchino
Latham, Dorman, Joseph, Lochhead
Twellman, Dempsey

No offense to Latham, but he would be in way over his head... strangely Nicol seems to like him -- lots of late season sub appearances, including putting him in MLS Cup (?!?!?)

If we play lineup 1, I think we can grind out a 1-1 draw and win in extratime/penalties

I believe it was the Jamaica U23 game Saturday where Pepe played as a third forward after Dorman came on for Latham, and Pepe scored the only goal.

I expect Ralston and Parkhurst to be back. I also expect a 50% return on my horse-betting investment this season.

Here's my guess:

------------------Reis--------------------
Heaps---Hernandez---Parkhurst---Franchino
------------------------------------------
Ralston-----Dorman---Joseph-----Lochhead
------------------------------------------
---------Twellman-----Dempsey-----------

I hate the idea of DH in D, but this may be it because of the injuries. I don't see rolly being included too soon.

Except that at this point, today's Globe article says that most likely they won't be.

Pepe played up forward.

My lineup was based on my guess that SN would be going with a more defensive line up with TnT as the lone striker and Pepe as a withdrown forward/playmaker. This 11 gets our best, healthy and most experienced players on the field and offer the best chance of keeping them from scoring

Where did you get that? I didn't see it anywhere ...

I'll side with SoccerDoc and revolutionfan on this one. Though I do think that this would be improved by slipping Pepe back a bit into his natural position and playing the 4-5-1.

I believe Brown was dropped to RM in the second half when Dorman was brought in. Dorman played CM and Pepe went up front. I think, or they switched to a 3 forward formation. Anyway, Brad did say Pepe was a forward at the start of the half.

Alright, there's some confusion. I'm talking about the first LDA game, Pepe didn't play forward. You guys might be talking about the Jamaica game (as mentioned by someone else) since Pepe didn't start the second half against LDA anyway. I missed that game against the U-23s completely but just because he played up front against them doesn't mean he plays up front against LDA.

I think there's a better chance of Dorman playing up front than Pepe (didn't he do that last year anyway)?
