I find this quite upsetting, as one can assume he won't be fit for all the matches of the WC, which means he will anyway have to be replaced at one point or another. I hope Pekerman is looking for a "B" plan with Aimar or someone else, because it looks like we'll definitely need it.
Back pain is something terrible, and playing high level football, with hardly any resting time, is not the ideal situation for soothing it down.

I have also noticed that Riquelme is having problem with injuries this season as he is absent in many games for villarreal, so i hope pekerman has some really good back up in this position because Riquelme is the most important player for Argentina, and i hope Pekerman uses Lucho rather than Aimar in that position.

Most horrific news of the year for me. But having said that, lets be conident, because his development in the next few weeks will determine whether he needs surgery or not, so fingers crossed.

Yes, I think that if Pekerman has some sense, he will let Riquelme rest for this match and try both Aimar and Lucho, a half time each.

I can fully understand your desires to see him rested but following Villarreal, I hope he can get through the Champions League wihtout much problem. Rangers proved to be much more of an opponent and it has become apparent that Villarreal needs his presence to increase their play. I hope he heals well though, for Villa and you guys.

Well, that was also my point. As Villareal will most probably need him against Rangers, we could do without him for this friendly, specially since we need so badly to find a suitable replacement for him.

I'm sorry I missed your statement about the friendly and leaving him out to rest. In the article you read, did it discuss how the injury occurred or what his time frame for recovery was? I can't seem to find one.

Here you are, in Spanish, though:

It seems like an old thing, not really new, but never handled seriously.
We'll now have to see how it evolves. Hopefully it's not that important, as they seem to say, but I still doubt it. After all, we have seen in Confed Cup how he was completely absent in the final; possibly due to that...

if Riquelme won't be fit for WC, I am going to break something, as he is very very very important for us and also for the neutral fans, who want to see great players in WC. i really hope this back problem is not that serious.

Al ex Boca lo padeció Costanzo, el ex River. Guillermo Franco hizo el tercer tanto, casi al final. Román se fue de El Madrigal ovacionado por los hinchas.

Suspension due to yellow card accumilation.
No injuries, he did well against Rangers well better than expected with supposed back injuries and recovering from calf injury. I think he will be fit for WC, at least I hope, because that means he is fit for the remainder of the Cl and la liga season.
