Are we sure Xabi will be back?

Why wouldn't Rafa play Agger alongside Carra and give Sammy a break?

These are the fixtures that give us trouble, Charlton are a little desperate and we tend to let down. Yeh, silly I know.

We have to come out to win and practice scoring goals....

Can we please get more than 2 goals before half time? The recent run of 1-0 wins has my heart on the blink. Thanks. :D

I think the higher-ups i.e. Rafa and his crew will definitely put more emphasis on scoring goals by whomsoever. One area we could improve on is the return from set-pieces. We possess so much aerial threat, yet we have a desperately beggarly return from corners and free-kicks. I notice that the lads have been trying a few cute tricks but not everyone involved seems to be on the correct wavelength (we almost got caught out against City!).

EDIT: By the way, we're tied with the skanks for second place (having played one match more) and yet we're third because our poor goal-scoring (we're miserly at the back) has hurt our goal-difference.

This has troubled me as well. First, I can not understand why Stevie takes corners -- get him in the box making trouble. Plus he simply doesn't strike all that good a ball anyway. But with Crouch, Carragher, Hyppia, and Riise we should be able to make something of all the corners we get. Throw in Didi and we should be too much to handle. Yet we don't do much of anything and give up goals defending set pieces. Also, since Spuds left our only chance on free kicks is Riise, Hamann, or SG hitting the snot out of a kick and hoping to score. These are areas Rafa needs to correct.

Yes, I agree there is a lack of subtlety about some of our free-kicks. Seeing Ronny and fat Frank cause chaos with fiercely swerving free-kicks at the Bridge made me wonder why we can't also have some that. Xabi, when he gets the chance, is an artful one and Kewell isn't that bad, either. We have the personnel but some more playground routine is needed.

Finnan is an injury (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/mediawatch/drilldown/MW9672060228-1531.htm)concerns ahead of the Charlton game. Hopefully "small" remains just that.

Is Kromkamp the logical choice to swap in for Finnan?

Re: set pieces, it has certainly been frustrating with our lack of goal production. I really wish that Xabi were swinging in our corners. I'm also sick of all the short corners we take. In some cases, it makes sense, but we do it far too often and usually squander what would otherwise be a good opportunity. We have guys that can score through the air; they just need the proper service.

I'd like to see 'Arry get another goal and several more from our strikers. 2-0 or 3-0 would be great. We cannot drop points this week.

I hope it was a minor ache that gives the excuse to get out of a totally meaningless friendly for Eire.

Entirely meaningless, I agree. Disruptive, too.

I think Agger should play for Hyypia, both to save him for Benfice and because Hyypia had a nightmare in his last outing against Charlton.

Is the game at Anfield?

I agree, all the short corners we do makes me so frusterated. Especially after we turn the ball over immideatly thereafter.

I feel another 1-0 win

Sorry you feel that 1 nil isn't good enough . Well at the mo it is , that would be another 3 points in our favour so please stop having a go . A win is a win no matter if its 1 nil or 6 nil . Of course this will be a tough match as charlton are no pushovers so it will be a tight game at both ends so to me a 1 nil victory will be adequate on our quest for 2nd place. Im sure you also will be pissed off Morientes is playing but give him a chance as Rafa see's something in him as opposed to Cisse. Like ive said before i don't really care who puts the ball in the back of the net just as long as somebody does and we end up winning. Fair enough for me !!!!

I don't blame him for the confusion - over here it's the exact opposite. The assumption is that the first team is AT the other, and when they list two teams, the home team is always second (or on the bottom). It screws me up whenever I watch Sportscenter on ESPN right after watching the Fox Soccer Channel.

Hmmmmm...this makes me wonder how you felt about Sven. He guided England to the WC (seeded), but the wins were ugly and listless at times. Sometimes winnning isn't necessarily representative of the team on the pitch. Then again, of course a win is a win, no matter the margin. But the fact that we haven't been able to score two or more goals with any regularity still concerns me. A 1-0 victory could easily be a draw or even a loss with one or two lucky bounces from the opposing team. I'd also like a little more "cushion". And as a previous poster mentioned. there is also the issue of goal differential that could possibly be an issue at the end of the season. I say bring back Baros. :)

this match will be the last match before our C.L encounter,so this match should be taken realy seriously. If we win by a 2 goal margin, then the boys will go into the C.L encounter with of confidence.
