First, I wish there was more involvment in this forum from Greater Cleveland Soccer fans. I don't know if anyone else noticed but, we're dead last in threads and posts under Specific Cities. I know it's a newer forum, but still....
To: Crew Fans in Columbus
For those of you that would like to see an MLS team in Cleveland. What can we do as fans, if anything, to help make this thing become a reality. Any positive input from your experiences would be greatly appreciated.
See you guys at the home opener. GO CREW !!!
Thank You.

Sadly it seems until we hear something official there is very little we can do to help bring a team to Cleveland.
Please prove me wrong if you can, but there does not seem like we have a whole lot of a say in this.

As far as promoting the possiblity of expansion, little to none. Most other fori have a critical mass of posters that helps them continue posting when there is nothing left to say. The 30-40 areas posters can only say the same thing or repeat the same nugget of imformation so many times before that gets old. We are dependent on Garafalo for information and that guy isn't flapping his lips. Roger Brown is a lousy secondary source.
Every time the rumor of expansion leaks out of Wolstein HQ, the number of Cleveland area posters grows. Shoot I can recall when there were about five of us. And one of them was nuts, but I cannot remember his name.
So don't fidget. Just bide your time until there is something to do.

AMEN: The reason the first Cleveland forum was removed from this site is because of a purported lack of interest.
Its hard to maintain a buzz when the soccer powers in greater Cleveland keep everything so tight lipped. Bert Wolstein's first letter of intent from the MLS came from right field.
The Force folding for allegedy a season or two and supposed to reappear is comletely kept out of media scrutiny. Are we supposed to think that the Force will reappear as an outdoor team now?
Now, a month ago, plans for a stadium/lifestyle center is dropped from outspace in Northfield/Macedonia. The media has been completely quiet about it. There is more news about Legacy Village and Crocker Park than this place.
This team will be playing and win a championship before I hear about it again.
The Plain Dealer, Beacon Journal, television/radio media and ownership group can start creating a heck of a fan base if someone would PLEASE let us know what is going on.

I used to live in Cleveland, and am interested in a new team. But I have to tell you, I cannot stand the name Cleveland Force. It is so generic, so not Cleveland-style, so 80s, and it already feels played out. I know the name has history - but is all that history so good? I would argue not. Let's turn the page and start over.
And let's also involve Brad Friedel - who right now is one of the best goalies on earth and playing for Blackburn and starting up a great soccer academy in Ohio.

I'm not exactly sure what it is that we would like to see reported... there is no news at this time... there is nothing about which the PD or Beacon can report... perhaps we would like to see an editorial piece??? be careful what we wish for... there may be some hack at one of these fine journalistic institutions who decides to use his keyboard to spout on about "How can we even be thinking about a new soccer stadium when we can't pay to have enough policeman or firemen..."... perhaps one of these guys who will NEVER understand, appreciate, or (God forbid) LIKE soccer will write about how, as 'mericans, it is our patriotic duty to support 'merican sports and how we should be supporting the Aeros or Captains in these troubles times... perhaps we'll get someone who witnessed the Detroit riots after their NBA Championship or the couple of cars get flipped about down in Columbus after we beat Michigan to get to the National Championship to write about how a new soccer team will increase the likelihood of seeing these types of riots, chaos, mayhem by 150%... "MLS says soccer is family entertainment... do you really want your kids going to a SOCCER game (or is it match)... i mean besides the the incredibly boring exploits on the field (or is it pitch), the riots in the stands are enough to keep my child safely at home next to his XBox..."... oh yeah, and maybe we can get someone to write about how, since they play soccer in Iraq and Iran (and since Bin Laden has been seen kicking a ball about), supporting a new soccer team means we're "against the troops" and therefore anyone who supports the stadium would be supporting the spread of terrorism...
I guess i'd rather keep these guys chilled out until there is something to report...

I disagree. Since 2008 is not that far away, we should be seeing some architectural drawings. Maybe some reports from local Northfield/Macedonia government that plans are in place or some ground-breaking pics of a bunch of dorks in suits with hardhats.

But wouldn't those things actually have to be taking place for a newspaper or website to report on them???

In the interim, support the PDL team on the west side. Consider it a supporters dry run.

Who's going to the Crew home opener ? Could this be a great opportunity for us to come up with some creative signs of support, to show everyone, including Macedonia/Northfield officials that we want this proposal to be a done deal.
I think this opportunity is better then any other we'll have. Besides, what Crew fan doesn't want to hear, P... (urinate) on the fire !!!
Music to my ears :D

No worries. Anyone can crash the Cleveland Expansion forum. Until we are bought out by Nelly's Pimp Juice.

I'm going to the Galaxy v Crew game in July and plan on brining a sign with me mentioning Cleveland. I really think a new tame with new colors should be used instead of using the Force.
