Friends of Houston 1836,

It was a glorious day today. My boys and I were able to meet many of the players. I was able to talk to our players about the importance of 1836 and its true meaning.

I was able to talk to the coaching staff and explain to them what they can expect to find from our Supporters Group come Gameday.

Then after all the Stadium action a group of us met up at Herman park and had a small side game. It was great! We had many laughs and some good touches on both teams.

I would love to see that type of spirit continue to grow in our Supporters Group. I look forward to a great bond and comraderie with y'all. I would like to echo our Coach's feelings in that in my life there is faith, family and football.

Next step is to get dues paid, our songs set up and memorized and a trophy for "that" club up North.

Dale Tejas!!!

Shoot - we had fun for the short time we were there, but that trusty camera we brought that takes such great pictures doesn't do it by itself. I simply forgot to take them.

Looks like you guys had some fun. Don't suppose there'd be any chance of having any post-game kickarounds somewhere well-lit? Games are likely the only time I'll be able to get inside the loop, since I'm way out here in Katy. Maybe there'll be one that I can make, even though I'm not technically a member of the supporter's group - just a lowly midfield season ticketholder (or rather, soon to be).

"lowly midfield season ticketholder?" Perish the thought!

Never thought I'd witness a group of guys in poorer shape than the Casbah. ;)

(Who's the hottie in l/s orange shirt & low blue socks?)

(And what's with the baseball caps???)

It's Texas, if we can't wear our huge cowboy hats, then we cover up with a baseball lid.

(just living the stereotype people!)

But we're soccer fans...we're not supposed to be living the Texas stereotype - we're supposed to be metrosexual like Beckham, didn't you know that? After all...aren't all soccer fans a bunch of wussies? (Gag! Talk about stereotypes. Wake up America! Soccer is where it's at!)

Yeah, who needs suburbanites and kids at the game? . . . oh wait yeah they spend money to get into the game too . . .

I really see your point, we don't want a young generation of kids growing up learning to love soccer . . . they should just wait until they are in college and can consume beer . . . yeah that's a successful plan . . .

Judging by the demographic at the pick-a-seat, they will be at the games.

I like Guiness, burritos and french fries. That is a maldicion of epic proportions when talking about being out of shape. Thanks for noticing Hannah.

Baseball caps....hum...how do I explain baseball caps and being a Southern man. Baseball caps and more specifically my old Houston Colt .45's hat are a part of our culture down here. It's who we are as a culture. It's never odd to see a soccer dude wearing a Astros cap or a Rockets fan wearing an Astros cap. Or even better are the guys that wear a Cowboy hat to a soccer match. They are standard for Texas gents and if it is a baseball cap or Cowboy hat, its just culture.

You know you can't make a comment like that without posting a picture of yourself! :D

If we do that, we get to meet over here too. I've got a soccer field right next door.

And a battleground too.
