Sunblock.

Anybody? It's foooookin rubbish. The first song was a dance remix of the Baywatch theme, and the new one is another cover made into a dance song. The video/performance has loads of attractive blonde girlies dancing about but apart from that.

I know, let's steal a tv theme tune, make it faster using a casio keyboard, add a generic dance beat and release it.. and lets use some skimpy bikini girls to sell it.

GENIUS.

Well, it is.. because morons buy it. So who are the real idiots. It's still not very talented.

"The silver jews"....interesting name! I'll have to look into them...

If you do, get 'American Water' or 'Tanglewood Numbers'

[QUOTE=Malkamus]If you like those bands/alt-country you should check out the Silver Jews if you haven't already -- I'm not sure if they are Spurs fans but they should be with that sort of name...QUOTE]

Does this mean your screen name is based on Stephen Malkmus' name? I've wondered that in the past.

Jose Gonzalez. He's from Sweden (can't you tell with that name??), but his parents are argies. He's gotten real big with the surf crowd here in the states - I guess the Jack Johnson type of fans mostly (which I am). He has an incredibly eerie voice and generally it's just him playing classical style guitar (he's a great musician) and singing. Very hypnotic and relaxing - my disclaimer is that you absolutely have to be in the mood for that type of slow, acoustic music - but if you are in the mood - he's fantastic. Writes great lyrics, really cool voice, and quite the musician. I think "Veneer" is the best album I've heard of his so far, with "Crosses" being the song to try out.

Missed this post -- my screen name is based on a street I lived on, but yeah, big Pavement and Malkmus fan as well...

I'm not a big R&B/microhouse fan, but the new album by Herbert called 'Scale' is really awesome, really defies the genre. Lots of found sound and intelligent lyrics for a dance tracks. Great vocals as well by some chica.

REM's compilation "the IRS years" comes out the 12th. Should be good with a fine mix of all the good music they put out in the 80's (before turning to total shwit in
the 90's). Also putting out a DVD of performances/videos/etc. I've already pre-ordered the two disc set and DVD. Don't know why I've ordered the disk since I have all of the CD's the compilation came from anyways......I guess there are some unreleased tracks on the second CD.......

I have to bump this for 65 Days of Static, my new favourite band. Bought an album last week just to try something new, it was so great I had to go out and buy their second one straight away.

They're an instrumental-only band, kind of modern prog-rock.
