Okay, this has to be a joke. Can someone please clarify? The Rev website finally has some news on it, and it is not pretty.

http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=308106&itype=4073&iCategoryID=429

All of us diehard season ticket holders....especially the ones who have been dying for gear all these years....the ones who already renewed last year....we do not get a free replica jersey. We got a "coaching" dvd that looks like it cost 2 cents to make, and is completely uninteresting.

Now someone who buys a pair of tickets NOW will get a free replica jersey. A replica jersey. Something we didn't see for 3-4 years of the 10 year team history.

This is so unbelievable, words are escaping me. I feel like those old cell phone commercials where they would always show how newer customer got better deals than long standing customers. Can I cancel my season tickets, and then turn around and re-buy tomorrow?

Someone please tell me I have it wrong?

my cousin called, current season ticket holder, and they told him all persons buying a pair, or more, of season tickets in category 1 or 2 will get free jersey, both new ticket holders, and exsisting.

Amount I paid for my two season tickets through the early renewal special: $360

Amount extra I'd have to shell out to upgrade one category to get the current jersey special: $320

Number of jerseys that would buy me, going by the $65 preorder price on MLSgear for a replica: 4

It's a nice idea for new customers who missed out on the early special at the end of last season, but I think I got the better deal.

This is bogus just because they know that the people in category III are the people in the fort, the true fans, the people who renewed early, and the people who will buy rev merchandise anyways. this bugs me.

Or maybethe Cat III tiks are cheap and giving away a $65 gift to each of them would REALLY hurt the bottomline, considering the free parking deal.

If the Revs were a stand-alone business maybe I'd agree, but seeing as they're owned by probably one of the richest teams in the NFL....I can't help you.

So the Krafts should just go right ahead and make this team lose money?

you dont have to sit in the fort to be a true fan, dont discrimate here. some of us true fans sit other places in stadium to you know.

they should give the shirt to all season ticket holders.

Thanks jokeefe80. I knew there had to be a clarification.

Now why the eff wouldn't they just have made that explicitly clear into their news release, instead of creating confusion?

Just because you sit in the fort your a "true fan" that really bugs me when you guys continually say that. So because others like myself chose not to go and watch the games in that section and prefer it where Im sitting, Im definatly not a true fan because im not part of the fort. Of course...

By renewing early we still got the better deal. I got a fort ticket, and saved 60 bucks by renewing early. That's almost enough for a jersey right there.

Ann, you are a genius!

I am a Fort member who agrees with you...I apologize for those that dont think fans exist in other parts if the stadium  i hope you dont think we all think like that...

Because the Revs and PR don't belong in the same sentence?

As Ed said, I don't think most of us that sit in the Fort believe we're the only true fans in the stadium. We just decided to show our support in a different way than others. Neither side is better, neither side is right ... it's just each person's choice on how they want to show their support.

I have no problem with this deal, even being a Cat III person. As Peanut and Ann said, the amount of money we saved by paying up front back in November basically equals out to a jersey anyway. Hell, I hope this promotion works fantastically and we get more "true" fans into the stadium.

you dont have to sit in the fort to be a true fan, dont discrimate here. some of us true fans sit other places in stadium to you know. ...Well ... for the team's first 9 years I sat at the halfway line, 10 rows up from the field. Now I stand in the fort. I was a better fan when I sat at the halfway line. I'm a bit jaded now.

Before, I brought as many people as I could to games, and encouraged many of them to purchase season tickets. ... Now, I bring myself, sometimes my wife, and rarely anyone else.

I guess the best fans sit in Bermuda

I don't mind the whole merchandise give away thing. Really the tickets in the fort are pretty inexpensive. No way do I expect (or deserve) to get anything extra for that price. I am, however, a little amused over the "free parking" thing. On the one hand, it's great that all that attend a Revs game will park for free. On the other hand, I'm a little annoyed that I was deceived when I purchased tickets.

The being "deceived" thing is not a big deal, but it goes back to the "jaded" remark. For many of us, there is 10 years of history here.

Now that the deal has been clarified (and since I am a Cat I), I too have no problem with this deal. I renewed my tickets for the lower price in November and now I will get a replica jersey. (The crappy coaching DVD should be thrown out)

I agree - hence why my rant when I started the thread
