Anyone here watch this (http://www.ultimateavengers.com/) recently released direct-to-DVD animated film? It's based on the comic book series The Ultimates by Marvel Comics, which in turn is a re-imagined version of the long running Marvel comic book series The Avengers.

I'd never read any of the Avengers books before, but I certainly enjoyed the film. Do any of you who've read the Avengers books have a different perspective on the film?

In any case, Part II of the DVD series hits stores this coming July. :)

Just to clarify one little nitpick about when the aliens attacked and Nick Fury "raised" the DEFCON level from 4 to 5: the film got it backwards.

DEFCONs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_Condition) (i.e. Defense Readiness Condition) actually range from 5 (lowest) to 1 (highest) - fortunately for us, we've yet to reach DEFCON 1, and have only reached DEFCON 2 once, during the Cuban Missle Crisis in 1962.

I feel better now that I got that off my chest. Bring on Part II! :D

Goodsport is a geek! He's miffed that Hawkeye is in the movie, but not anyone with his moniker! :D :p

It's truly a nerdville thread, but can't resist!
