They are quickly turning into the poorest sports in Europe. Can't pull the ball out of the back of thier frickin net without an excuse.
Same excuses with thier National team. It is tiresome really. :(

and sweet little lord nolan, such a delightful child...
because of laville and n'gotty i always had a soft spot for bolton, but i've rarely been so happy to see a club lose as last night! BRAVO MARSEILLE!

the bolton side's point of view

Bolton's maiden European adventure came to an end at Stade Velodrome as they let a strong position slip to lose 2-1 to Marseille.
After a goalless draw at The Reebok Stadium The Trotters claimed an away goal when a Fabien Barthez blunder allowed Stelios Giannakopoulos to tap in.
However, Marseille fought back and a killer goal from Franck Ribery just before half-time allowed them a foothold, before Tal Ben Haim scored an own goal to send his side crashing out of the Uefa Cup.
The loud home crowd were party to a physical opening in which Marseille begun to pressurise their Premiership visitors with a series of corners - one of which was headed wide by Habib Beye.
Jay Jay Okocha was unable to conjure some magic from a free-kick as Barthez parried his deflected effort for Allardyce's men at the other end, but the French outfit should have tested Jussi Jaaskelainen from Taye Taiwo's tantalising cross.
However, on 25 minutes Bolton then claimed a crucial away goal thanks to a catastrophic error from Barthez that harked back to some of his less illustrious days at Manchester United.
The French keeper leapt to catch a swinging cross from Okocha, but somehow dropped the ball before he landed allowing Giannakopoulos to collect and finish calmly past Abdoulaye Meite on the line.
The Greek international also went close nine minutes later as he swung a volley straight at the Marseille keeper after a long ball from Joey O'Brien, although the home side also threatened when Lorik Cana drilled a shot into the side netting after a header on from Mamadou Niang.
Elements of Bolton's build-up play possessed quality, at odds with their reputation as long-ball merchants, and captain Kevin Nolan capped a fine move when he released Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye - although the midfielder was just offside and suffered further anguish when shown the yellow card for shooting home after the whistle was blown.
Just three minutes later the Senegalese international ran the risk of being dismissed after a late challenge on livewire winger Ribery, and the young star continued to prove a threat as he scored on the brink of half-time.
Midfielder Samir Nasri saw his first cross cleared by Okocha, but on the second attempt he found Ribery lurking in front of Giannakopoulos and the World Cup hopeful directed his header inside Jaaskelainen's right-hand post.
l'OM still needed to find another strike to cancel out the away goal, and they certainly started the second half in determined fashion as both Wilson Oruma and Nasri looked to beat Jaaskelainen in the opening minutes.
A succession of set-pieces maintained the pressure on Allardyce's outfit, and tempers begun to fray as both Jaaskelainen and Nolan were involved in heated disputes with Cana and Barthez respectively.
However, Bruno N'Gotty fired a warning to the hosts, and his former team, as he saw a goal-bound header blocked by Frederic Dehu.
On 68 minutes l'OM made their dominance pay when substitute Thomas Deruda picked out a fine cross to allow Beye to elude Giannakopoulos on the right and send in a dangerous cross.
Niang was arriving to slide in, and in an attempt to clear the ball Ben Haim only succeeded in diverting it past Jaaskelainen as Marseille stole in front for the first time.
Almost immediately Nolan was involved in another clash with Barthez after attempting to follow up his blocked shot, and Allardyce threw on another attacking option when Henrik Pedersen made his first appearance for four months from the bench.
The Dane almost connected with a header, but his comeback was then cruelly cut short by a nasty injury as Cana collided with his ankle.
Pedersen's pain was keenly felt by Bolton as they failed to breach the Marseille defence in the remainder of the tie, despite late pressure, and the French side progressed to meet Zenit St Petersburg in the last 16 after completing an impressive comeback.
