Kahn...

because he knows many Bundesliga players, especially from Bayern Munich that are national players..

because he has strong leadership quality, he is hard and players have respect of him...

because he is simply better than Lehman!

German National team need someone like Kahn!

He's definetely not better than Lehmann.

As for respect, i don't know how much his teammates respect him after his continuous ability to find new ways to let harmless shots in.

Actually he is now more often in Germany...against his initial plans. ;-)

What a shite header. Actually he says that in his opinion Kahn should play, but that he believes that Lehmann will be Klinsi's choice.

If I could add my two cents:

I haven't seen much of Kahn lately, but since Christmas, Lehmann has been in unbelievable form for Arsenal, and definitely the best goalkeeper in the EPL. I would say he's been as important as Henry in the past 3 months. After Campbell dropped out, and Lehmann was playing with a very inexperienced backline, he produced his best performances since joining Arsenal. He's been great in the CL as well, and made a brilliant and crucial save against Raul vs. Real Madrid. If he can keep this up, I would say he would not be a bad choice at all.

Edit: Oops, I guess I should read the thread first, looks like this has pretty much been said. Anyways, to put it in perspective, I would say it is a very good problem to have, choosing between two experienced, talented goalkeepers.

hello everyone.

everyone knows that kahn is not at his best these days because if he was there would be no discussions about who is the number one goalkeeper and i donm't mean just in germany but in the whole world. kahn has made so many saves in his career that only kahn can make and i mean only kahn. his stops the impossible. lehmann on the other hand sucked ass his whole life. germany with the shiity defense they have will need a miracle to do well at the world cup. that means they need someone who has proven he can win games and stop the unstopable. that is kahn. i personally am very bias and i would pick a one eyed kahn over a lehmann at his best any day.
it all depends on klinsi but he will be stupid to pick lehmann.

The same Lehmann who led Schalke to UEFA Cup victory in '97 and who was Arsenal's hero in last year's FA cup final? Jens has plenty of big game experience. Arsenal's defensive line has been horrible for large stretches this season, yet Lehmann has saved their arses on numerous occasions.

Only thing is...Klinsi ain't listening
Oh yes he is.

Klinsman is going to pick the best keeper, and that’s been Lehman, this season, at least.

Not only does he not care about Franz and Uli , he might even get a kick out of pissing them off.

I agree. Based on his performance this season it should definitely be Lehmann. Until a few months ago I was more in favour of Kahn, but Jens performances for Arsenal have been simply amazing.

makkay - do you even remember Schalke's UEFA Cup win? Are you saying a UEFA Cup final is not a big game? Right. BTW, what's a makkay?

i do remember schalke's uefa cup win. it was against inter. when the uefa cup final was played over two legs. that same year bayern got knocked out of it by valencia. dortmund were the CL winners. and schalke got knocked out of the uefa cup the next year by inter. uefa cup final is not really that big of a game compared to two champions league finals. and kahn also won it with bayern the year before beating barca in the semis and bordeaux with zidane, liza and dugary in the final.
makkay is makaay just trying to be different.

That's cute. Anyway, it's about being able to cope with pressure on a big stage. If you play in a UEFA cup final, you have exactly that. Same in an English FA cup final, for that matter. Saying that Lehmann hasn't been exposed to this kind of pressure is very silly.

I don't think Klinsi has the balls to piss off DFB management or Franz for that matter and still think he'll go with Kahn no matter what.

Too late and I can't be bothered reading all of this just now, but here's my take. With Kahn you get great experience, leadership and reliability. With Lehmann you just don't get that and he is always liable to making a crazy error or stupidly getting involved when he isn't required. Although he has been steady this season and we haven't seen the former, we have definitely seen the same amount of the latter. I certainly wouldn't take the risk with Jens, particularly with the stakes this high. It just isn't worth it.
