The match between Mexico and Argentina will be on Tuesday night (live from Los Angeles) on Telemundo Channel 47 at 10:30 PM.
This stands to be a terrific game. Be there! The Argentines are not to be taken lightly. They're all from the Argentine League and if you watch those games than these guys are a lot of familiar faces. River and Boca are heavily repesented. No one from the European teams is on the squad. This team will be far from a walk-over for the U.S. on Saturday.
As far as Mexico is concerned, their new coach is the Argentine Ricardo Lavolpe and this is a chance to see if he can wake the Mexicans up and have them start to adapt to other teams successfully. The U.S. takes them on April 29 in Houston. As of right now, Telemundo will definately be showing that match. I don't know which English-language station may be showing it at this time.
For those wondering what this has to do with the Metros, think Clint Mathis and Tim Howard.

I agree. I'd rather play a brooding Argentina with perhaps other things on their mind than one fresh off a loss that doesn't want to come home from a 3 match friendly tour with a losing record.

Mexican defenders look real shaky when pressured by Argentine forwards & midfielders. I see a goal coming off a steal.

Mexico cannot successfully clear a ball from their own end. Their finishing is suspect too, many chances could have been put away or at least done better with. Mexico has controlled most of the play, but the defense is just to shaky in clearing, backpasses and set pieces it's killing them. This match is a foul festival as well..many players could have been thrown out by now, many challenges from behind, wreckless cleats up challenges..extremely fast paced as well. Argentina had one goal called back for a push in the back int he box or else it would be 2-0, they also blew a point blank header. An exciting game though I must say, great crowd energy.

Oswaldo Sanchez has looked very shaky in goal as well. The relentless pressure by the Argentine forwards could spell trouble for the inexperienced US backline on Saturday.

Man, Mexico look like kids against the more skillful and bigger Argentinians. I'm sure it will be a much better game versus a real team like the US.

Argentina is going to provide a serious reality check to the USA. By the way, who was that ref tonight? He was among the worst I've seen. He totally blew a PK and a red within a few seconds of each other. He let the game get way to chippy too soon. He made on good non-call on an offside in the first half, but his notion of what constitutes a fair challenge needs to change.

the worse part of the game: 3 MLsers officiating the farse.
Not a sell out as some may think, 75K at max
the stands behind the endzones were clearly empty
good camera show by telemundo
superb pressing and fast counter attack by argies.

My thoughts:
Game: Overall a pretty dismal game. Lot's of hard work and pressure from both sides but not enough soccer.
Mexico: Resourceful from midfield to the forward line. Absolutely horrific in the back. Tried to "play" out of the back too much and were pressured into dangerous giveaways.
Argentina: Good pressure in Mexico's defensive third created most of their good opportunities. Industrious, hard-working effort. Poor distribution from the back leading to a lot of unnecessary turnovers (particularly in the 1st half). Not their best effort.
Player of the Game: Insua
Referees: Bad. Lost control of game in very difficult environment. Missed call on PK. Overlooked punch in the face and many other nasty goings-on throughout the game. Not as bad as commentators who have us believe.
Commentators: The worst part of a bad game. Not so much Cantor. But Longo really should find another line of work. Insistant badgering of D'Alessandro (who did not have a good game) by asking, "...is this the guy that is so highly touted??? Is this the guy that Juventus and Real Madrid are tripping over themselves for???". As if the scouts for these teams based their impressions of this player over this game. It appeared as if it was the first time he had seen him play.
Also, his constant belittleing of the officials and of U.S. soccer in general. Saying things like, "...their from the U.S. what more should we expect... they are not ready for this level of international soccer."
Crowd: Kudos to Mexico North for once again filling the L.A. Coliseum. However, when are these people going to show some level of class. I know it's not all Mexicans and i know it's a minority of the people at the stadium, but can we please watch one Mexico game without seeing bottles, urine-filled baloons and bags, and other projectiles being hurled at "visiting" teams??? This total lack of respect speaks poorly for all Mexicans, all Latin Americans (of which i am one), and of all soccer fans in general.
Player i most love to hate: Cuahtemoc Blanco. I think he's still seeing Mastroeni whenever he looks over his shoulder.
