Back on topic, big Red Sox fan here, and the Braves are my NL team. Lived in central Massachusetts and then Alabama while growing up, so it made sense to pick them. But the Sox are definitely "my team". It'll be interesting to see how things go this year with so much turnover, as well as seeing whether Schilling and Foulke can get back into form. I like the acquisitions of Beckett and Crisp, though its never a sure thing as we all saw with Renteria (I wanted to keep him personally). But I like the look of this team for the future. Just have to see if all the changes translate to the proper on-field results.

I never have before. And yet, pain inevitably becomes involved.

What are your thoughts on getting Thome for Rowand? Most fans I've talked to seemed not to like it, but I thought it was a decent deal even if Rowand is supposed to be an up and coming star.

Getting tickets for Mets opening day. I can't wait to see how we screw up this year, although by the looks of it, it's going to be the rotation that will ******** things up. David Wright will bat 7000 and hit for 400 home runs, and then Omar will sell him to fund the 9 year, 300 million dollar bring Sammy Sossa out of retirement deal.

The three scariest potential words for Mets fans this year--"It's Lima Time".

As a die hard Indians fan, I will most assuredly vomit the first time I see Jim Thome with a black 'SOX' cap on. This whole season will be a let down. Nothing in my lifetime will ever again top the excitement of last august and early september as we chased down the Sox, only to aspirate on our own foaming lather as we pulled off a choke as only the city of Cleveland could. And I just know that Sabathia will hurt his arm in the World Baseball Money Grab and be no use to us until after the All Star Game.
But I'm not bitter or anything.

I have to say, however, that the rainbow uniforms were among the best in the history of sports.

You're damn skippy, Achtung. Those uniforms are hooooot. No, literally, bright orange gets seriously hot under the SE Texas sun.
The Houston Astros gave the world two of the greatest postseason games in baseball history -- the 1986 15-inning NL-division-series gut-wrenching loss to the Mets :( and the 18-inning "Yes-Timmy,-Roger-Clemens-IS-God" 2005 defeat of Atlanta.
Don't get between a Houston girl and her baseball. It's serious business. :p

Sapphire, are you from Houston originally? And I figured all you people cared about was pointy ball.Hell, you think the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo built itself?? That's my people ;) My mom's family is from Houston for a few generations and my dad's family's from Oklahoma. *sigh* Dad was a pitcher in high school, Hank Aaron was mom's hero . . . you know, that old chestnut? :D
I was seriously raised on Houston baseball. I was crawling with a baseball bat and glove; pointy ball just doesn't mean the same to me. My dad had 3 daughters, we were all on different baseball teams, and he coached them ALL. <*Cue* Guitar strumming tejano-style and 3 small girls in bright orange jerseys, walking down a . . . dusty . . . Astrodome . . . concourse  > Anyway . . . Went to the Dome with my dad in the summers and sipped on lemonade and watched Mike Scott pitch during the eighties. Went to New Orleans Zephyrs (Astros farm team) home games in the nineties and watched Stros games from a sports bar in New Orleans while in University (I ran the Tulane baseball home scoreboard for 2 seasons, too.)
I love my Stros now more than ever -- they tend to win now, omg!! -- but Cox Cable is evil and refuses to broadcast Astros games at reasonable prices in Florida. I love my Astros (if you hadn't noticed).

You're all just wasting your time, let's just stop the season before it starts and hand the Angels the title right now so no one gets embarassed along the way.
