Local trio invited to train with the Revolution (http://www.theroyalgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060221/SPORT/102210150), Colin Thompson, Royal Gazette.
National team players Domico Coddington, Tyrell Burgess and Keishen Bean have been invited to train with New England Revolution this week.
Goes on to mention that the latter two, along with another player, has been offered scholarships to Lynn University. I hate soccer programs that use maybe 2-3 US kids and go out and get kids from other countries to play. Just annoys me. Sorry for the rant.

ESPN's preview (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=359363&root=mls&cc=5901) of the Revs CCC matchup by FDA.
From Mariner: We have a good core of fans at home and we hope we can get to the next round and have a home match."

wonder if they are sub quality, or maybe for the reserves...
I agree with the rant though...over 200 million Americans and none are better than kids from Bermuda?

Lynn University probably can't get American high schoolers who are better than these kids. Seriously.

It's a quick and easy way for a division II team to get talent upgrades, I should think -- less legwork than trying to identify U.S. HS players. (Assuming Lynn is D2... I've never heard of the school before, so more probably than not they are.)

This part I do agree with. But I don't want to take this topic way off line. This is just a personal frustration for me seeing schools that are competing with US/local kids going against US colleges that have predominantly foreign rosters. Just an FYI, Lynn is a DII powerhouse, lost in the NCAA semis this year, and currently shows a roster of 17 players (which seems low) with only 5 from the US.

Quote from FDA's article...quoting Jay Heaps:
''It is going to be two really good clubs going at it," Heaps said. ''It's exciting stuff for us, the reputations of clubs and the league on the line. You always compare yourself to other leagues, and if we can get to the next round, we would obviously play in Foxborough and you would have some great international clubs involved.
I won't say it:D

Lynn and places like it (Florida Atlantic?) EXIST to give foreign kids some exposure to U.S. soccer and a chance to get scouted by U.S. coaches.
A friend of mine from South America with great skills was told by an A-League coach to go to a U.S. college to learn how to play the "U.S." way!

While I understand that ... to me, it's a little bit like Title IX. I'm doubting that these schools have a population of 75-80% foreigners, but the team does, and that doesn't seem right to me.
And yes, a part of is personal, as I watch my alma mater play with all but one kid from in-state and the other's from NH. Oh well ... like I said, I didn't want to get into this. It's already kinda been brought up on the college boards.

I'm not being coy when I say that I'm not sure what the joke is. Didn't Mariner say at MTC that they would be looking to play the next round's home game at home? Given that it doesn't seem farfetched for Heaps to say the same thing.

Next round first leg would be March 22nd....Just two weeks after what was supposed to be our home leg of the Qtrs....
What if it's still cold out.....god forbid we get some snow:p

I see. Yes that's not too much difference. Perhaps the Revs would try to swap legs and play in MA in the March 28-30 window.

I would tend to doubt that Club America (our most likely next opponent if we win) would want to give up hosting the second game.
The other thing that Mike forgot to mention is that the Revs are on their second preseason trip on March 22nd, in Costa Rica. This was the second trip that TNT was pushing.

I'd go beyond tending to doubt and would be totally shocked and dumbfounded if Club America gave up the second leg of the tournament!
What's much more likely is that the Revs would play Club America in Costa Rica on March 22nd....It's not like we wouldn't be familiar with the surface down there.....
And as Steve Nicol would say, there's not that much of an advantage for Club America to play in Costa Rica rather than Foxboro....
Unless of course they'd like to refund the money to all of the people that bought inclusive trips to Costa Rica to see the team in preseason training!!
All will be well with the scheduling if the Revs fail to advance in the CCC though.....
Hmmm I wonder....

Sadly it sounds like Pepe won't be starting. :(
I took it to mean "gifted" rather then equipped. Seems their coach thinks highly of Pepe.
