This year's FA Cup final has been moved to Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, says the company building the new Wembley.

I'm not too suprised by this news, it still looks like a building site. I'd rather it be done right than rushed to meet a deadline.

The whole thing has been a farce .
The stadium has been closed down for about 5 years .Some huge stadiums have been built in a fraction of the time .Thats what you get for hiring a joke firm to build the venue .

fyp.

I have a sneaking suspicion that if it was built up near Yarm - it would be finished already all with a fraction of the cost and a fleet of Kosovan builders patting themselve on the back.

God bless the UK.

You only have to look how quickly stadiums in Japan and Korea went up for the WC.

The FA were honourable at first in moving that games round the country, then they got tired and went for the one with the biggest gate receipts.

I'm complaining even though I'll be going to those games.

Those grounds will probably host the u21 matches if anything.

I'd like to see Hull get a shot at hosting an England match. Its a beautiful 25,000 seater stadium and its an area where the team hasn't played yet.

It makes more sense to have the games still on a rotational basis for friendlies and weaker group games etc. Let's have the matches against Estonia and Andorra for instance in places outside of London and save the Russian and Croatian games for London.

But the FA couldn't give a toss about fans outside of London, because they are driven by money. The only instance where they would move it, is if Manchester United increased their capcity to 120,000 - this meaning more gate receipts for the FA fat-cats. Why on earth do you think the so called 'back-up' venue is Old Trafford?

We must follow the German and Italian example and keep the games moving throughout the country. Its the only way to ensure the games can be seen by all outside London (it would mean a 5-6 hour car trip for me, as it stands.) The FA are far too antiquated and no doubt still believe everyone outside the Watford Gap are still squatting in a ditch poking berries up their noses.

But again, its all about commercial interests with the FA and no doubt the need for the common football fan who lives miles away from that stinking cess-pool that is London, is the very least of their priorities.

I'll probably be old in the tooth, when I see England play up at the Boro again.

*sigh* :(

The whole thing is a disaster from start to finish. Mainly because they failed at square one. Building the frigging thing in the most disgusting city in the universe.

Building the frigging thing in the most disgusting city in the universe.Well Portman Road got a full international a few years ago against Croatia (and Portman Road was mainly used for youth internations before that) St Marys got a game aganst Macadonia in 2002 and Pride Park got one in 2001 against Mexico so i see no reason why they can't be given a go.

Hull would be a nice choice, good stadium and haven't played in Yorkshire for a while and we've never played in Hull.

I think they will play the "lesser qualifiers" in other stadiums and friendlies too. Croatia, Russia and Israel will probably be played at Wembley whilst others like Macadonia, Andora, Estonia might be played at Villa Park, Old Trafford, Anfield etc..

and i was born near Wembley so don't call it discusting :D

Too right, I've been saying for years that the new Wembley will be a big white elephant. Just wait til we start seeing it two thirds again for midweek friendlies, serves them right.

What was wrong with building a slightly smaller and less imposing stadium, leasing it out to one of the London clubs and still rotating England games round the country?

When Wembley does re-open I'll probably never see another England game live again, it'll return to being a cockneys only thing (and contrary to what certain Liverpool and Manc Utd fans would have you believe the majority of people at the England games in the north west were local, I should ********ing know as I've been to most of them)

Oh, this also means that Sven will never have managed the England team at Wembley and the new manager's first game will likely be the first game at Wembley, talk about pressure! Better arrange a friendly against San Marino then ;)

the round trip around the country was fun. We played at 14 different venues from all over the country and i still believe friendly matches will be played elsewhere and mabey the lesser qualification games.

No, the FA have said that every England game, competitive and friendlies, will all be at Wembley for the next 30 years.

Maybe we need a breakaway North England team?

I agree that it's terribly unfair that jobless northerners have to pack their spam sandwiches and head down south for every England game. Us southerners ought to be spending our extensive disposable income going north for games. While we are at it, we should distribute essential medicines and blankets.

Don't fret, our northern chums, help is at hand.

Your council tax goes to your local area not ours.

Perhaps if London didn't get all the investment there wouldn't be as much need for government subsidies for the rest of the country?
