I didn't watch the second half, but please stop the Huth bashing. Everyone was at fault in this game, Friedrich played especially atrocious, and Huth didn't play that bad after all, at least for someone that is getting almost no match practice the whole season thru. And now he even scores our goal. So please stop the Huth bashing, others deserve it more. What striked me most is the almost deliberate bad passing, once a German player has the ball, you know he's gonna be passing it back to an Italian within seconds. Complete lack of concentration. That is inexcusable.

And Hertha is right, this is still nothing like the 1-5 vs. England (when Germany actually didn't play that badly).

Which kinda mekse me wonder....how can a player who gets virtually no playing time for his club, play well if not better than most other starters ?

You know...you can prepare yourself for a loss as much as you want but its always so damn painful...no matter what the circumstances are...

Just depressing...

I can't watch due to work schedule, but I wonder if the Woerns omission will be brought up?

I'd imagine the woerns appology will arise and frankly with the way we played today Im willing to take him back and give him one more shot on the 22nd.

I'm glad I turned the tv off after 7 minutes.

Don't you just love how the red aggressive jerseys just strike fear in every opponent?

Friedrich was atrocious i agree. But altogether its klinsis formatio is whats at fault.

He plays Merte and Huth; two slow coaches; as the center halves and then wants the wing backs to continually push up. And he does not have a good solid DM. Add to that he plays a suicidally high backline.

What all that amounts to is Germany are always caught out down the wings and any average to good striker will get by Huth and Merte in those positions. And if wingers go through, they will send in crosses. And then the Germans dont have enough men in the box to deal with crosses.

Look at Lahm at LB. He played SUPER. Didnt give an inch. Attacked well, defended with gusto and i dont remember him losing the ball once in this match.

Ballack was also very good but it was hopeless since Frings was missing and Deisler lost the ball countless times and about the only thing Bernd did was to cut back inside the Italian defenders.

And why put Asamoah there when Lukas was doing well...i will never know.

Boro as DM!!! How mad can he be. Even though the Bremen man was FAR more solid than his club mate.

Klinsi has LOST it

This is an awful result, and should give Klinsman a deserved wakeup call, as if 3 goals againts Australia and 3 against Mexico weren't enough  .

And for his brilliant attack minded team, that kinda failed as well. If Germany is already struggling against mediocre teams, this is what happens when you play giants like Italy, expect the World Cup to be even more of a rude awakening if you don't start to get your head out of your ass and sort things out Klinsman!

Instead of watching the game I was listening to Judas Priest this evening. I win!

Der Mannschaft is a work in progress. They are not ready for this summer. They've got too many young guys and not enough mature studs like Ballack.

It's bad timing and all with the Cup in Germany this summer, but Germany looks good for South Africa.

The other thing though is that Italy is awesome. They beat Holland in the Fall pretty bad.

Exactly what I was just telling people on our BVB list. This is what Klinsi gets for playing with no experience in the defense.

A friend of mine called me after the match and said the Germany defense was so bad that Lehmann would have stood a better chance if they just let the Italians take penalties.

Was it that bad????

Agree. And someone should teach him this football lesson.

It's nice to introduce youngsters into the team, in order to build on the country's future generations. However, I've said it many times before, the best way to handle the team is to find the right balance of older and experienced players and younger players. Voeller and Klinsman are at opposing ends and neither of them got it right.

Completely agree. That's exactly why I was so p'd off at the Woerns situation......

klinsmann needs to abandon the flights of fancy and get down to the basics...

he is trying to implement and ambitious method without the players and requisite ability needed to do so...

forget the adventurous football - just concentrate on eliminating the schoolboy errors and bring us the results, PLEASE! :(

Yep, actually it wasn't that bad in the second half but only because Italy was satisfied and played half power only. If they had played 90min full power, it would have been more than 4 goals.

p.s.: If Huth plays as one of our centre defenders this summer, the whole world will laugh at us. Can't believe that Wörns was left out instead of him.

Maybe just a thought...maybe play flat 3 backs next time? There would always be 3 men back there, maybe have 2 wingbacks going up and down and not having to worry too much about tracking back...
