Hmm seems like Kuranyi got axed....I actually thought Klinsi might also axe Friedrich as well.

Friedrich is too important to axe IMO.

No, Lahm can slip easily into RB position, then Jansen can go LB

:(

Quite disappointing too....

HOwever, Frings has been playing too good. I would like to see Ernst axed as well for Kehl, he's not exactly in great form.

True, but Frings should be playing on the right side, as he does with Werder, not as a DM. Ernst, well... I don't understand Klinsi here at all.....

Could be worse though.. we could have Baumann come back.

I understand where you are coming from, but I think Klinsi is done with experimenting and has a core group of players that he will rely on. It's a double edged sword, since while there is a familiarity among the players already present, but we're missing out on some good players, aka Trochowski, Kehl, and Kiessling. The squad is already young, and reletively inexperienced , so having a squad to heavily reliant on the youngin's is a risk.

Players like Trochowski, Kiessling, Volz, Odonkor etc. could get their turns post-WC.

I'm going to advocate that a new whipping boy to all of you-- Fabian Ernst. I'm surprised Klinsi still calls him up. While I haven't seen Ernst play a whole lot, I find his game to be totally unimaginative and uninspiring. With Klinsi's focus on playing aggressive, attractive, offensive football, I hope Klinsi reconsiders naming Ernst to the squad as he doesn't strenghten Klinsi's game plan. We need some players who can take it to the opposition like Trochowski or Kiessling. There's nothing Ernst brings to this team that will make it more competitive against top-ranked nations.

I am glad to see the opinion of Huth here. I can't imagine him starting for a country like Germany.

He is clumsy and makes clumsy challenges. I am surprised he is even mentioned by Klinsmann.

we DONT need Huth!

we dont need that kid who can tell us how the benches in england look like.

he played 11(!) Minutes this year for chelsea!! ELEVEN !!!!

Kahn cant play against Italy, Lehmann will play for him and Hildebrand is the No.2.

I think we should play like this:

-------------Lehmann------
Owo:( ---Metze:( --Merte---Lahm
-------------Frings--------------
------Deisler----------Schweini--
------------Ballack---------
--------Poldi-----Klose-------

I can't freaking believe he picked Huth over Worns...that is unbelievable. Core group or no core group, Germany DON'T have a holding midfielder and that is one of the most important positions in football nowadays.

Man we're going to have such problems with Frings in that position, not because he is bad but because that is not his natural position. The guy roams about, that is who he is and that is what he does best.

Attacking teams LOVE to cut right through the middle when exposed, that is what happened to Chelsea on Wednesday because of Mourinho's dumb substitution.

We are calling for Kehl for a reason!

I'd like to see something like:

-------------Lehmann-------------
Friedrich--Mertesacker--Huth--Lahm
---------------Ernst---------------
Frings---------------------Borowski
---------------Ballack-------------
------Podolski----------Klose-----

Biggest problem is IMO the RB position: Arne Friedrich made some really... REALLY poor games with his club Hertha BCS Berlin in the past few months. Owomoyela's playing his very first season with an international top-team (Werder) and needs time to stabilise his performnces. And Hinkel's "out of form" (rofl) for nearly 2yrs now, that's ridicilous, people should forget about him.

Hopefully Podolski will make a good game again. This season he's just playing like crap with Cologne. He could be the biggest upset for foreign soccer fans who aren't able to watch the Bundesliga and just see "Oh, Podolski's playing again... D-D-Danger" :D

I'd like to see Ernst as Defensive Midfielder because
1) he played pretty good with Schalke in the last matches and
2) Frings as DM is just a waste of his strengths in the offense ;-D

If Ernst fails, Klinsmann still can nominate Frank Baumann as new DM. :P

Germany will play if Khan is not in the field but Lehman.

I agree. Klinsman doesn't seem to have much ambition on German National coach.

i actually think its time for klinsi to STO experimenting! :o
especially not against a strong team like italy...

i dunno about the flat midfield - i kinda like it - play to your strengths, i say... but i wouldnt put borowski in with ballack to start off... maybe as a replacement or subbed in some way or the other...
or maybe play a stronger defensive player in frings in the middle, who can contribute to both attack and defence but more defensively oriented than borowski...

i really do wish trochowski gets a chance though - maybe even keissling... and i dont want huth to get a start vs italy! :(

lehmann
friedrich merte metz lahm
boro frings balla schweini
klose poldi

subs? keissling for klose, trochowski for either schweini or podolski and give huth some playing time in the end by giving cmetz a break...
deisler in for boro either to begin with or as some added impetus later on in the game...

(this being played away, i assume? since the last game vs italy was at home, iirc)

I would start like this:

-------------Hildebrandt-----------
Lahm--Mertesacker--Metzelder--Jansen
---------------Frings---------------
Deisler---------------------Borowski
---------------Ballack-------------
------Podolski----------Klose-----

Horrible, that Klinsman picked Huth once again. When comes Manuel Friedrich?

I am against too many changes, the WC is in 4 months.
Klinsmann must concentrate on a squad of about 30 players.
If he doesn´t do it, the WC will be a fiasco.

At what point should we start playing with the final squad that Klinsi will eventually take to the finals? IMHO, that time should be now. Experimental time should be over...The team has a unique handicap of not having played many competitive games since Euro 2004. In fact they have only played the Confed Cup. The team needs to be working on game cohesiveness.

Also, I must add that Woerns should have no place in the Nationalelf, and the fact that he stated that he is the best back in the BL right now is quite funny. The guy is like a traffic cone...he is so slow other players make it look like he is standing still. Your time has come and passed...You had your opportunity to shine when you were younger and you f'ed it up against Croatia in '98. You are not forgiven...please go quietly back into your role as an average player on an average BL team...

Additionally, the way things are now - Schweini should be benched due to the fact that his form is poor and Deisler should be given more starts and no longer should be a fringe player if healthy.
