I'm sitting on 4.5M right now and I'd like to have 8M by the time I'm ready to make the push for promotion next season around week 7 next season.
I'm considering a switch to winger training because it will allow me to keep my midfield trainees... right now I've got 3 brilliants, an outstanding and a formidable. Ideally I'd like to train PM until I get 3 magnificents and a brilliant back-up. Would that be enough to do me justice in D.IV or should I wait until I've got 3 WC PMs?
If I'll need WC for DIV then I'll probably sell off the best non-trainees I've got and just keep solids in all other positions and stockpile around 15M (between the sale of a trainee or two as well as the sale of my forwards and my revenue over 2 seasons) to spend to make the jump to DIV.

And second, single-skilled players are dropping in their prices rapidly. The only players who more or less preserved their values have good secondaries.
In your case, the first point applied, because for formidables, the secondaries are not that important yet.

Hey - anyone know of any websites that are updated on possible promotion tables? Akickku (not even on-line anymore) and Rembrandt (only updated through week 6) are not much help right now.

What about your 6th trainee?
BTW, I would recommend no less than three SuperNaturals for DIV. Especially if they will be your long term starters.
Speaking of having cash to burn, as Eric Cantona says: "Watch This Space!". I'll soon be starting a thread where everyone get's to play a little 'Fantasy Hattrick'. Basically, I'll post my team and everyone will get to say how they would spend the 12 millionI have in reserve.
It should be interesting to see how opinions differ!

Supernaturals you say! *feints*
I guess I'll sell these guys at their next pops and buy some outrageously expensive trainees...
I'm looking at what? 18yo outstandings/brilliants to get up to supernatural?
oh yeah... my 6th trainee is a 17yo solid.. I know I know... but he's a youth pull and he's got passable passing and defending... I know I know...
He's shorttime, once I get him to excellent I'll sell him. I think.
so um yeah... I can get them up to supernatural by age 23 or so if I buy them brilliant at 18?

Not sure about your math, but an 18yo formid (which I almost exclusively buy) would be an early 21yo Supernat barring injuries.

It totally depends on the series how much PM you need to stay afloat. You absolutely have to be able to win midfield against half to 3/4 of the series when you play at home, unless you have a team designed to play CA and win.
I have one magnificent, one WC, and one titanic right now, and with an outstanding (very experienced) played WTM it's just about right. If I'd played the whole season with that, I'd be in the mix for anywhere from 2nd to 6th in a very competitive series.
Keep in mind, though, that IV is improving every season. Good enough to compete now may not be good enough to compete in season 32.

my midfield is only world class - world class - magnificent. i'll need to upgrade most of my team...i'll need a new winger or two, a new foward, and probably a new defender. that is if i go up to IV. i already have 1st place for the first time ever :) off to the milestone thread!

Cavelier won himself a golden boot this season, pulling away from the competition--mostly my golden booter from last season, Williams--when Williams started getting suspended and totally fizzled out at the end of the year while Cavelier kept hammering them home. Cavelier has always been a better trainee ability-wise, but the numbers weren't there until this season.
The mantle of Number One Son has been passed on.
