Nedved was not selected as he doesn't have to play in friendlies. Sverkos, Kobylik (ex-Sigma player) and Zapotocny are new faces to be called up. Although, I expect them to play in the "B" friendly.

Full 28-man roster...

Goalkeepers: Jaromir Blazek (Sparta Prague), Petr Cech (Chelsea), Antonin Kinsky (Saturn Ramenskoye)

Defenders: Rene Bolf (AJ Auxerre), Tomas Huebschman (Shakhtar Donetsk), Marek Jankulovski (AC Milan), Martin Jiranek (Spartak Moscow), Pavel Mares (Zenit St Petersburg), Zdenek Pospech (Sparta Prague), David Rozehnal (Paris St Germain), Tomas Ujfalusi (Fiorentina), Tomas Zapotocny (Slovan Liberec)

Midfielders: David Jarolim (Hamburg SV), Jiri Jarosik (Birmingham City), David Kobylik (Arminia Bielefeld), Radoslav Kovac (Spartak Moscow), Jaroslav Plasil (Monaco), Karel Poborsky (Ceske Budejovice), Jan Polak (Nuremberg), Tomas Rosicky (Borussia Dortmund), Rudolf Skacel (Hearts), Stepan Vachousek (Austria Vienna)

Forwards: Milan Baros (Aston Villa), Marek Heinz (Galatasaray), Tomas Jun (Besiktas), Vladimir Smicer (Girondins Bordeaux), Jiri Stajner (Hanover 96), Vaclav Sverkos (Hertha Berlin).

A rather strong squad, the only players missing are Galasek, Grygera and Koller (injuries).

Remember, there are two friendlies on March 1st. An "A" friendly and a "B" friendly.

Wow...Sverkos is in...he's done almost nothing for us (ok 2 assists, but he hasn't scored goals, whihc we need).

Hmmm, yeah, I've heard he hasn't done much at Hertha. I suppose, it is a good thing for the Czechs to get a look at him with the senior side.

btw has Poborsky hit 100 caps yet...I've always fancied that player, he is a quality player that I remember from Euro 96.

I think he hit 100 right after EURO 2004. He's currently sitting at 111.:)

Also missing (still out with an injury) is Vratislav Lokvenc, another big striker.

Is Lokvenc injured?

What position in midfield does Skacel play? I know he's tearing it up for Hearts, but I just wonder if it's as a Winger or as an Offensive Midfielder. Probably the latter.

Still concerned with the defence. Only Jankulovski and Ujfalusi are top quality defenders. Bolf is okay, but not up to the other two's standards.

Hope the Czech players remain injury free for the remainder of the season.

Is Lokvenc injured?

From November 11 Sky Sports article: Lokvenc damaged his cruciate knee ligament in training on Wednesday and is now a doubt for the World Cup finals, should his country qualify.

The 32-year-old, who plays for Red Bull Salzburg, had already seen his season blighted by other knee injuries but had been hoping for a comeback this month until his latest setback.

The article also said it may be a six month recovery. It would have been nice to have the two towers.

Smicer appears to have an injury and probably will not play against Turkey.:(
