Does anyone know of a good book about Sir Matt that is still in print? I've found a few on Amazon, but the few used versions they have are ridiculously priced.

which is interesting, to say the least. Has anyone here read this? It kind of reminds me a little of the Megadeth song, 'Holy Wars.' It is not the easiest read, at least not in terms of lining up whatever ideologies exist, and it seems to contradict itself, and then corrects itself in a way to make it seem consistent. I'm making no sense, huh? Has anyone read this and is willing to lend a hand into the understanding. I find it somewhat charming in its presentation, but some aspects alarming.

I've read it... sorta... but then again its my religion. :p

Quick and dirty summary of the Gita: Duty and sacrifice. Freedom from attachments. Belief in the glory of the soul.

Yeah, that's about all that can be agreed upon when it comes to the Gita. It's that broad and vague at the same time. Interested to know what you thought of it though.

Are you looking on Amazon.co.uk? They'll have far more football-related books.

Speaking of football books, two I highly recommend are Brilliant Orange: The Neurotic Genius Of Dutch Football (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0747553106/sr=8-1/qid=1155697753/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-6748509-6783823?ie=UTF8) as well as the slightly offbeat Soccer in Sun And Shadow (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1859844235/sr=1-1/qid=1155697816/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-6748509-6783823?ie=UTF8&s=books).

Next up on the list are Ajax, the Dutch, the War (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0752842749/sr=8-4/qid=1155697753/ref=pd_bbs_4/103-6748509-6783823?ie=UTF8) and Football Against the Enemy (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0752848771/sr=8-3/qid=1155697753/ref=pd_bbs_3/103-6748509-6783823?ie=UTF8).

Good call. They've got the same used books, but they are reasonably priced.

What's up with all the Dutch footie books though?

Just finished this http://www.bookhampton.com/storecats/indivs/images/nightfall.jpg

Good story as all his books are but I was extremely disappointed with the ending. It could be because I predicted where he was going with it by page 50.

Recently started on Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0786715103/sr=8-1/qid=1155742412/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-3766701-3629602?ie=UTF8). Bit of a depressing tale, but an important lesson that most governments still have not learned.

I badly want to read Brilliant Orange: The Neurotic Genius Of Dutch Football. Soccer in Sun And Shadow is the greatest footie book I have ever read. Those other 2 books sound highly interesting.

I've convinced him to become a Dutch fan. :D

They're both very highly-rated and do what a good soccer book should do--they relate the game to how it affects and is affected by the culture, geography, and other portions of the environment. Pretty interesting stuff really in Brilliant Orange, especially their transition from the usage of extra space in forming their country to the development of total football. As well as their cynical view of penalty shootouts.

Wow what a review. Can't wait to read it. And for the record lets not bring up penalties and the Dutch in the same sentence.
