Who doesn't, but what do you do when confronted with a real live woman in the flesh??

I'm shy. I usually just smile and lick my eyebrows.

I'm really enjoying the increased estrogen level on this board. It used to be just Sapphire and Zinni. Now we have Zippy and Busby and Joel. I hope this continues throughout the season.

Zinni was always more of a bull dyke though.. With his love for Sharapova and 300 year old Russian men....

Also, if you haven't read "The Miracle of Castel di Sangro"...one of the best sports books I've ever read.

Have started Ulysses. Wish me luck.*points and laughs* Have fun with that. I wrote a senior thesis on that bad boy years ago, and, strangely, the urge to pick it back up has never once struck me. I liked it when I was reading it though.

I've been trying to read The Illiad the last few weeks with the purpose of the continuing with The Odyssey. But it's tough... I may have been over ambitious trying to read it in a language that is not my own but hey, if you don't try you'll never know.

Are you reading it in Greek?

As a Classics student I have read the Odyssey, the Illiad and the Aeneid but not really in Greek. Latin is more my language but if you want a recommendation for a book I would suggest 'I Claudius' by Robert Graves as well as the second book 'Claudius the god'. I would also suggest the 'Apocolocyntosis of the Divine Claudius' by Seneca which is very funny.

This is probably a stupid question, but is modern greek close to ancient greek? In other words, could a contemporary greek speaker pick up Homer and understand a bit of it, or would it be illegible?
