This computer rendition made available Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 by Space Adventures, Ltd., shows the company's plans for a $265 million commercial spaceport in the United Arab Emirates. The commercial spaceport would be based in Ras Al-Khaimah near the southern end of the Persian Gulf, and the UAE government has made an initial investment of $30 million, the Arlington, Va.-based company said in a statement, Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. Did you hear that "Scotty" (James Doohan) and the ashes of 185 others (including a nurse and 19 year old young woman) will be blasted into space .... their final resting place.

Very cool. Hopefully it gets built though its probably out there to generate interest to fund it. I thought I had heard of another project similar being built in New Mexico.

However I clicked on the link thinking it was retalitory action from Congress or something. There has been a lot of concern recently with the UAE buying our other ports. :)

They would do well to add another 0 to the end of that pricetag to build that thing. But hey, maybe they could add an SSS and draw interplanetary friendlies. The Galaxy would feel quite at home there, no?:o
