You should move to Houston. It gets hot there, and they need more activist perfessers.

OH MY GOD! Snow! How could the weather be like that?
46 degrees and feels like 41 in Oakland. Poor you.
Come to Chicago and you might die. Its 8 degrees here and feels like -7 (yeah, thats right, I bet you didnt even know temperature could get below 0)
We were playing soccer when it was 46/41 here, and we liked it too. If it is colder, I am sorry, but thats what I got on Weather.com

Congrats! You sound so brave.

But I'll take my 8 consecutive days of weather in the 70s and every day of the year above 55 degrees for the high. It's February... and I've got a tan.

And yes I'll cry about the freezing cold that killed off my guava tree. :D

Tito, get me a tissue. :D

Can we hear more macho cold-talk from anybody north of Chicago, where it might even be uncomfy for the mighty worm2345? How about the North Pole? And maybe we can start threads for any other extreme weather situation people put themselves in. Seems like evolution has favored those who have sought out preferable conditions, as opposed to those who either try to prove their toughness like stubborn old men, or make dopey comments and excuses why they're living in places where they're hopelessly stuck indoors for the better half of the year, secretly wishing they were in more comfortable (fun) spaces.

Last I checked, people migrate our way (west) to leave the misery they were born into more than the other way around.

Snow all over Mt. Hamilton and the SC Mtns. looks quite nice, BTW.

I have nothing against the cold per se. Lotsa fun can be had in the cold.

I just don't like it when it gets as cold as it is here right now. It's not something that I'm usually prepared for....especially this lengthy stretch of cold.

I don't like it when my plants freeze.

I'd be more tolerable if it would just snow a couple of inches in my neighborhood.

Saw a beautiful non-sequitur while walking on the SJSU campus yesterday. Looking east toward the mountains between the Engineering Complex and the Student Union...seeing the snow on the hills...and the line of palm trees that line 11th Street...it was just so contradictory! If there hadn't been so much cloud cover (and a bluer backdrop) I might have run home for my camera to photograph it.

Nothing on the 10-day forecast aside from flurries on St. Patricks Day, but I'm fully expecting another foot of snow at some point between now and Easter

It's been freaking glorious up here lately. Kind of overcast right now, but this weekend was unspeakably beautiful. My wife believes that because we have so much rainy, drizzly weather that when it's nice out we appreciate it more. Could be. Personally, I like the rain, especially because I don't have to shovel it! (That quip stolen from a friend, but with permission.)

Hehe. That's great..about not having to shovel it!

I like the rain myself. Always have. And I think your wife is totally correct. Driving to work towards the Almaden hills this morning with the sun breaking through on the them was a beautiful sight to see. The hills are all green! Very beautiful! And I really enjoyed just lounging around lazily in the sun this weekend. That was nice and relaxing. If we'd had sun all along, it wouldn't have been as enjoyable cuz it would just be like every other day. But it was fun to just lay around and take in some sun.

Kinda like..."gotta have some bad/boring sex to appreciate the good stuff"(?)

Bah! Sun=good. Spring is here. Ribbit. :D

There are somethings where you always want the best: Beer, Wine, Whiskey, Sex. But let's be honest, sometimes, you're just plain thirsty! :D

Variation in weather is fine, and variations in other things too. ;) I would not for example always drink the same good whiskey. Sometimes I like Bunnahabhain. Sometimes I like Lagavulin. Last weekend, I liked Oban. Sometimes I'm in the mood for Pink Floyd, sometimes Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, lately i've been listening to Phil Manzanera's new albums.

Oh and E, my wife is usually right. She's annoying that way. Of course, she has her good points too! :D

Scary - thought you taking the "variations" theme to Bill Clintonesque serendipity. Pointed "variations" on the truth work well in these sort of cases. She's not looking over your shoulder right now, is she?

Please! Spare me the Bill Clinton comparisons. A man could lose his lunch on that thought.

My lovely wife is not looking over my shoulder, but she does have a good sense of humor, so I might share these last several posts with her. ;)
