Aston Villa and Manchester City meet in the FA Cup in what looks an intriguing fixture at Villa Park.

Both sides have been up and down in The Premiership this term, but form goes out of the window in cup clashes.

The pair last clashed in the FA Cup over ten years ago and on that occasion City ran out 1-0 winners at Maine Road.

David O'Leary has a double midfield boost for the visit of Stuart Pearce's men with the news that Gavin McCann and James Milner are available.

The pair missed last week's 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, due to suspension and ineligibility, but should return against the Eastlands outfit.

Lee Hendrie is fit to play despite collecting a calf knock against The Magpies while Steven Davis is winning his battle against a groin problem.

Winger Trevor Sinclair is City's main worry with a facial injury. Pearce is mulling over allowing Sinclair to play with a face mask.

Knee injuries keep Andy Cole and Nedum Onuoha on the sidelines while Claudio Reyna is unavailable with an ankle knock.

What a game! :D We have to play in a replay against Aston Villa but at least we are at home, and our home record has been very impressive lately. Then if we make it past them, which we have a good chance of doing so, we have either Bolton or West Ham at home, which is a bonus. If we mqke it to the quarter-final stage then we have a decent chance since it as home.

Richards said: "This is just amazing. F***ing hell, I just can't believe it. It is a brilliant experience and a great feeling to have kept us in the Cup."

You have to let him off tho ;) He did score his first goal in the 94th minutem to level it to 1-1 in only his second starting appearance! Doesn't exactly happen every day does it!

If we beat Villa at The City of Machester Stadium next week, then we play either West Ham or Bolton again at home for the quater finals.

When was the last time City made it this far in the FA cup?

Anyways, no room to be cocky here, SP better focus on the next game. Getting 7th place in the league table looks to be harder and harder as the season progresses. FA cup might be the only hope to UEFA cup.

Not sure which year it was, but I know that we made it to the 5th round within the last five or six years. I am only certain because the Rags went out in the 4th that year, and in my time outlasting them in the Cup has not been a common event.

March 14 or 15 for replay

The date for City's fifth round FA Cup replay has yet to be finalised, but the Club can confirm that it will take place on either the 14th or 15th of March.

Man City v Aston Villa preview
By Peter ORourke - Created on 14 Mar 2006

Manchester City and Aston Villa do battle again for a place in the FA Cup quarter finals live on Sky Sports 1.

City earned a replay after a last-gasp goal from Micah Richards secured them a 1-1 draw at Villa Park.

The home side are waiting on the fitness of Sylvain Distin before Stuart Pearce finalises his team.

Distin missed last weekend's defeat to Portsmouth with a groin problem, but Pearce is hoping his captain will be fit.

Joey Barton and Trevor Sinclair are expected to shake off slight knocks to play.

Andy Cole is missing again for City, meaning Georgios Samaras and Darius Vassell will continue to lead the attack.

Aston Villa are missing James Milner as the young midfielder struggles to shake off a virus.

Milner missed last weekend's defeat at Blackburn and Luke Moore is again set to deputise.

Patrik Berger is included in the squad after a lengthy spell out, but the Czech star is likely to have to content himself with a place on the bench.

Mark Delaney is still sidelined with a knee injury for David O'Leary's men.

Unless you've signed up for either team's internet radio setup, I don't think so.

Game is just about to get underway; there's the minute of appreciation for Roy Clarke.
Apparently, Patrick Burger will not be playing for Villa today.

Goal for Samaras, which is reassuring because it sounded like most action was going the other way.

No more scoring before the half. Baros went off injured and Samaras probalby won't come back for the 2nd half.

Vassel in the 48th. The radio announcer is talking as though an Aston Villa come back is a physical impossibility, but it's still a good situation.
