There is often discussion on what style of soccer the US plays. I found this article http://www.goal.com/en-us/articolo.aspx?contenutoId=14199 where BA gives his feeling on the US style of play.
He says that we don't have one particular style of play, but we are most suited to the styles played by Germany, England, Holland, and Italy.
Italy doesn't stand a chance if BA thinks we are suited well to their style.
:D

we play american style football we dont need to copy others style. Actually we dont play with style at all and its beautiful. We dont have dribbling geniuses like Ronaldihno or the other samba stars we play soccer with a tough blue collar attitude and it gets results.
Are style is called winning.

No style is beautiful???
I disagree, I think we play a style similar to that played in Europe.

Not really, Scotland are blue collar -- they hoof it and get stuck in, we've got a bit of flair with Beasley, Donovan and occasionally JOB.

College.
High work rate, intense pressure on the ball, very quick play, quick counter, if all else fails then crosses from the outside backs.

And it is probably a mixture of all four of those countries. Still the hip hop influence hasn't yet fully kicked in. We won't really be settled on a style until the big bucks start to flow more in MLS and the hip hop culture has it's say on the game.

Don't forget the recent bling provided by Dempsey.

Yup. Add in intense physical conditioning, and the hope to stay close until late in the match, when the constant pressure may wear down the opponent.

if there is any country out there that the U.S. resembles its holland. although there are a few conmebol countries we kind of vaguely resemble.
i'd say its a nice mix and leave it at that.

your not going to pin down the American "style" in just a few words. They have certain tendancies (sp?) that may be similar to other nations but as someone else mentioned the only real thing we live and die by is our conditioning which is absolutely world class.
The team's focus is to get several players behind the ball quickly defensively and offensively to spread the ball wide, attack outside backs and serve crosses in using outside middies and outside backs. least thats what I see.

There's a big change coming. We are about 8 years away from an awesome team. IMO, TNL over estimates the current crop of players. None of them have the combination of skills and smoothness. Most have a few parts of what we will see in a few years. Imagine a Dempsey who could also, in traffic, play a full volley one touch pass sort of French style to a player 10 yards away. I’ve seen kids who in four to eight years will be sublime.

And Bruce knows all that and is just yanking people's chains.
As usual.

It's run and gun, manifest destiny, perfect American style. When at it's best, a very aggressive style and fun to watch.
But then Donovan starts talking about patience creating the chance and I'm a little concerned. But then they smoke Japan, who gave them more pressure than most, and it was just about as good as I've seen it.
I'm a hardcore junkie for US soccer right now, man. What is happening?!? :D  :D
