View Full Version : Status of the USSF Waiting List?

I have scanned through this entire thread and have not seen this question addressed. I'm sorry if it has already been asked and answered.
What happens to people who were wait listed, then applied for and received tickets through the FIFA lottery, and have now been awarded tickets from the Fed (meaning they now have two sets of tickets)?
This happened to friends of mine for the US-Ghana match. What they (and I) want to do is transfer the extra tickets to me. I have I feeling this will not be possible, though, and that one of the orders will simply be cancelled.
Any insight?

Sweet Jesus and holy shite... I just tickets to all the matches I requested! (2 for Czech, 3 for Italy, and 2 for Ghana). I already had tix to the round of 16 and quarterfinals. All the tix are cat III.
Conf #93xx, so there is hope for those who are further down on the list.
What delivery truck were you on?

Received an email at 8:38pm last night - I received tickets to all three first-round games and I had previously received tickets to the round of 16 game that may or may not be played. Category III on all except Ghana, which is Category II.
My confirmation number was 93xx. I had about given up hope.
I'm stoked.

I was on the 7:09 am truck...... So I guess paying double for the early Fedex did pay off in the end.
I have no idea how I did got tix and people w/ lower conf#'s haven't received anything. I didn't have tickets to any of the first round games before, so maybe that helped my cause?

Sorry to barge in on the thread, but did anybody get the ticket confirmation email, but NOT have the credit card charged? I received the email earlier today, and my credit card was NOT charged.
Count me in on this group right now..... not sure what the delay is unless they're looking for some type of confirmation....going on day 3 of getting the email but no CC charge....It's got me a little nervous.......I'll feel much better once I see that charge...

Reminder: Confirmation numbers on the second day had nothing to do with time of submission of the application--it is only alphabetical. If they are doing it right, they are allocating based on being on the first delivery truck. (Except some on the 9am delivery truck have gotten tickets before those on the 7:09 delivery truck...)

Wish I knew how many apps were on that 709 truck. 100? 1000? Seems like they would have worked through those apps by now. A friend of mine had a theory: Could they be allocating, in part, based on past support of USSF (ie- tickets, merchandise purchased etc.)?

So essentially, the confirmation # has nothing to do with the sequence of the wait list. I'm hugely confused and can't figure out all the arguments about this stuff. All I know is that my order was received at some point the next day via FedEx and my confirmation # is 85xx. Please give me 3 tickets to the Czech match!!

I have no idea.
I fell off a turnip truck the other day, if that'll help.
And they dinged my credit card straight away, FWIW.
I can't stay for the Round of 16 game for which I have tickets, though - did someone say you can sell those back to them? Or would I be better off going through....er, unofficial channels (wink-wink, nudge-nudge)?

You and me both. I guess there's some comfort in knowing I'm not the only one stuck like this, because it almost feels like my application might have just slipped under the table and gotten lost.
Someone else also posted a theory about past USSF support - they never said anything about this, and I sort of doubt it's the case. I've purchased merchandise in the past (not a lot, but a few items), and I did attend one WCQ last year (and the England friendly, but I didn't purchase those tickets).

In theory, the time of your Fed Ex should matter but that isn't clear right now. I'm guessing your request for 3 tickets, rather than an even number like 2 or 4, may be part of your problem. Of course, all I requested was 2 tickets and I've been shut out so who knows...

There is an assumption they are simply looking at confirmation numbers when allocating tickets. Confirmation numbers may merely be ways to file your application--but if they are doing it right, their database has you listed in order of time of arrival, and not confirmation number.
In other words, they shouldn't be looking at your confirmation number at all when allocating tickets.

I agree but what did they do when the Fed Ex guy dropped off 1000 (could have been 5000) apps at 709am? Did they alphabetize those apps since they all came in at 709am? The only fair way to have handled it at that point would have been to randomly assign order numbers to the apps. In other words, the appilcation on the top of the pile, regardless of last name, would have been given the higher priority number.
If they alphabetized names first and then ranked apps and assigned tickets based on the alphabet...well, that's just wrong and I think any objective observer would agree.
I'm sure if USSF is checking this thread they're getting quite a hoot. We just have to hope that in the end there are enough tickets to go around and compensate for any flaws in their process.

Yeah, good point. They had to assign the applications on the 7:09 truck in some way. It may very well be alphabetical. Or random. Or random twice (both the first time through and the second time through may have been different randoms--perhaps they just have all apps from 7:09 in a big pile, and they pull from there. Looks like I'm at the bottom of the pile this time.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I contact USSF via email about changes of delivery addresses. Their reply was that they will not be accepting changes of address after next Monday, April 10.
It seems to me that they may not even be done processing waitlist tickets by then, so if you are still on the waitlist and need to change your delivery address, I would suggest you do it now and do not wait until you are allocated tickets from USSF.

This was my fear as well, which is why I called to make sure I was still in line where I should be. My paranoia is exaccerbated by the fact that during the first allocation of tickets I received the standard email saying that all tickets had been allocated by the time they got to my app. but I would be placed on the priority waitlist for tickets. Since I was a 7:09 FedEx requesting 2 tickets to each group game cat 4, I thought this was pretty screwed up, so I called to see just what the hell had happened and was told that it was a mistake and that I would get Czech and Ghana tickets. Elation! Now though it's like going through the same misery again. There are Italy tickets available. Applications arriving after mine are getting tickets. I'm waiting, waiting, waiting. No word. Am I not going to get tickets and have to call and complain? This process should not be so difficult that things like this can happen! If I don't get my app in on time and don't get tix fine. My fault, I lost out. But if I pay significantly more to get that app in at 7:09, then yes, I damn well should be allocated tickets!
Sorry, getting all worked up and the anger sharks are swimming in my head:) Goos fra-baa, Goos-fra-baa

Did you email or call the USSF? If so what did they say?
