Ah, yeah I cheaped out and went with the cheaper subscription. So I still get ads, but it doesn't bother me. Mostly I hated the "server busy" messages and I figured I spent enough time here that $15 per year was almost nothing.

No need to rationalize there, friend - we understand your obsession ;)
Hey, you know what? Now that ZANI and andrew neave don't post here much anymore, I don't even need the ignore list like I used to...

Any thoughts I had of paying tp become a member dissipated with all the hideous changes made over the last few months. The sig font/size reduction being another in a long line of curtailments that make the 'premium' deals even less appealing then they were.

Joining did cross my mind is what I meant, but that idea has been completey ruled out now.

I would have thought the PM capacity would be very restrictive for you DS.

It is, that's why I was considering joining, but I'd rather empty daily then purchase a declining service.

Got my first "server busy" message in ages last night. I think THE MAN is reading this thread.

hmmm - shhhhhhhh then
I've gotten three "Database unavailable" messages lately but that's just because they're servers keep breaking, I guess. I still haven't seen the "Server busy" message although I'm sure I will during WC.
Oh well - I still might pay the piper but I doubt it.

I wonder how that's perceived by someone new who's coming to the site for the first time or do they never get those messages? Maybe only logged in users get that message, eh?

I got another one today - who is reading BigSoccer today? Hardly anyone. The only real thing happening now is USAvsPoland and that isn't that big of a deal... Obviously they have recognized the "problem" and are throttling the servers accordingly to get us to pony up :)
As a side note, when I got the busy signal, I looked around for the "LOGOUT" button. I wanted to see whether or not a not-logged-in user would also get the busy signal. guess what? They hide it whenever they show the busy signal screen - cheeky monkeys :)

I was a freeloader for a long time before I started paying. It does seem like I have not been locked out as much as I used to be. In addition, the amount that I paid ($15?) is small compared to the enjoyment that I receive. *tears up* I love you guys. *touches framed photo from NYC meet-up*
