Oy.

I hope this was worthwhile for the U-20s.

What no shutout? We're in trouble this year!

Looking at the lineups, it looks like we played a 4-3-2! (10?)

Just think what we would have done with 11 players!!!

Somehow I think they were missing a player (Noonan) in the lineup. If not, it's pretty impressive to get an assist even when you don't play.

By process of elimination, it looks like Noonan played the first 45, and Latham played the second 45.

NER (4-4-2): Reis (Tomasso 45) - Franchino (John 45), Heaps (Larentowicz
45), Hernandez (Haggerty 45), Riley (Queeley 45) - Lochhead (Leonard 45),

I guess the following players didn't play:
Twellman - I think he's in game shape already
Parkhurst - I wonder why he didn't play
Cancela - I wonder why he didn't play either
Warren - Only so many keepers that you can get out there
Smith - Injured & rehabbing
Ralston - Injured

It may only have been against a U-20 team but thats imoressive.

Interesting to see who started---ie Lochhead over Leonard out wide on the left wing.

I wonder what the scoreline would have been with Taylor in the lineup.

I wonder what you can learn by playing basically a high school + team? I would almost bet a top flight HS team from New England would be more competition.

Unless the competition picks up, I can't see this helping us get ready for the opener

Michael got a bruised thigh in practice last Wednesday, and sat out the Thursday/Friday training sessions; it had swollen a bit overnight but was not considered serious. No sense risking further injury, I'd bet its just precaucionary...

I was waiting for this predictable response.

This team just got to play outside with a ball on TUESDAY for the first time since the MLS Cup. This match was no more than a spirited warmup for the team. As they gain game fitness over the next 4-6 weeks the level of the opposition and intensity will increase. They have four more matches in Bermuda the last three of which will be a little more of a test. Unfortunately one of them will be the first leg CCC match which I'm sure the Revs would rather be played in April that late Feb but thats not their call.

I don't think we need to predict the sky is falling just yet

Soccer New England (http://www.soccernewengland.com/articles/view_article.php?id=963) reports that those two were given the day off.

And I was waiting for yours ...

Believe it or not, you both have a point. It's tough for the Revs to take anything away from this game. 8-1 over a team doesn't teach you much or show you much.

And Doc, you're also right ... this was the first match, and wasn't really meant to teach/learn anything.

The only worry is that the first match that means something is now less than a week away.

I'd liken this to the Red Sox playing BC in their first spring training game. You don't learn anything about the team from the result, but it is a chance to get the players out in game conditions and knock the rust off.

It's also a chance for players like Lochhead and de Oliveira to play with the first team and start to get to know how they play together.

I have to say, it is the u-20 bermudians. I'd be worried if the scoreline wasn't this slanted.
I really hope we have some better stuff lined up before wed:(

It's easy to marginalize this win, but it is significant from the standpoint that the Revs hadn't trained outdoors save for the time they've been in Bermuda.

El Jefé Rojo was somewhat concerned about that aspect before leaving:
"So far everybody's showing that they can play in the MISL. Once we get outside, we'll see if we can play outdoors," said Nicol.

I wonder if Clint only had 4 goal celebrations planned and had to take a little break to figure out his 5th before he would score again. No point in scoring without a proper celebration at the end.

I don't think we need to predict the sky is falling just yetBut we gave up a goal while playing kids, on grass even. :D
