Don't think this has been posted yet, Cory Gibbs played 45 minutes for Young ADO Den Hagg, which is ADO Den Hagg's reserve squad. Heres the link:

Doesn't really say much other than he didn't waste much time getting back in action and picked up a yellow. Good news for the US, having Cory healthy for the WC could really help us defensively, I remember prior to his injury Bruce said him and Gooch were his two first choice CB's.

But he should have stayed at St. Pauli. Saved himself cab fare.

I agree, while I'm fine with Boca and Gooch in the middle, having an in form Gibbs would be a big plus. Prior to his injury I thought he was a better defender than Boca and seemed to have the speed and athletisicm needed to play against top teams. I hope he can get back in form in time for the WC

Hoo-ahh!

Cory's on the way back. He'll be well-rested still in June. He's playing for a team, though, that will give him a LOT of opportunities to excell as a center-back (ie- ADO sucks). It's a good situation for him and for us.

This is a perfect time to get back to it... 3 months to prove himself at the club level... go into the camp fit and ready and.... there you are in Germany...

Potentially another German alum on the US squad (Donovan, Berhalter, Reyna, 'Dolo, Keller, Twellman...)... I wonder how "at home" these guys will feel and whether this will help their ability to play there???

Might increase the "press demands" having German-speakers on the squad...

He was booked again... He's still a yellow card specialist. He needs to work on that if he goes to WC. But it's great he's back.

Yanks abroad article on Gibbs, says he went 90 minutes again for the ADO reserves in a 4-0 victory. He's played 315 consecutive minutes for the reserves and may be called up to the first team for their match on saturday. Also heard somewhere else that he's been playing LB.

He's said it several times, and I'll toot my own horn
in that I called Gooch and Gibbs as our best center
pairing almost 18 months ago.... :)

I'd have to agree with it being common knowledge, though if you look hard enough you'll find comments by Bruce Arena hinting at the Gibbs/Gooch pairing is the most likely one for the World Cup. I think it was mentioned during the Mexico game (before or after, I forget... before I believe). But, anyways, the general consensus is that Gibbs/Gooch is the main CB combo, though you're free to start a new thread with a poll on it to test the theory.
