I just returned from a trip and played last weekend's game. Amid the ensuing depression, there is one thing I don't understand. What did Kyle do to deserved getting booked? Isn't it legal to block a keeper's kick? Or, was there something I didn't see?

It's Unsporting Conduct which does merit a yellow card.
The rules state that a kick from a goal keeper starts when the keeper is in possession of the ball and stops from when the ball has safely left the keeper.
If an opponent interferes with this action, it can be looked upon as Unsporting Conduct or as a form of Obstruction. Both are deemed as a bookable offense.

Don't I recall seeing Henry sneak up behind a keeper and kick the ball right out of his hands, then into the goal? I think it was early last season, although it could have been the year before.

Keano waited behind the goal until the GK threw the ball on the floor to kick it out, then ran out and kicked the ball into the goal. It stood too.

I remember that, it was against Birmingham a couple of seasons ago.

Why does it matter? Referees have their own impression of the rules and we just need to live with it.
