i thought both of these guys were going to "walk this league". Theyre really big clubs with lots of financial clout, so why are they 18th and 19th in the Colaship? Leicester was in the relegation zone for a stint, and Southampton is in freefall. They should have boughty their way out of trouble a long time ago. It seems to me that teams that have been in the premiership a long time really struggle with the drop. If i were Portsmouth, Birmingham, maybe even Middlesborough, Id be pretty worried right now.
some teams that have been the "premiership yo-yos" (sunderland and crystal palace) seem to be well adapted for the drop, same with teams that are regulars in the CCCL, like Norwich and Wolverhampton.
Point is though, why are two very big clubs with massive piggy banks struggling so bad?

Leicester don't have much money.
We also have had a long run of cnuts as manager. Prime example being Peter Taylor.

Craig Levein did bring a fair bit of youth into the team and made some decent signings (and some dodgy ones) but had some hilariously poor team selections and couldn't get any kind of passion into the team. Since we ditched him, we've got 10 points out of 12, which isn't too shabby form - before that, we'd only won the Tottenham game since what, November or something ridiculous. So yeah, our problem was a dodgy manager.
I think a problem is teams are always expected to bounce straight back, which just isn't going to happen if you've got a high turnover of players because they're not going to be a gelled team. The reason some teams can bounce back is usually because they're on a sound enough financial footing to not have to sell off their best players. Compare the number of familiar names in Palace and Southampton's teams, for example.
Also, its an extremely competitive league - there's no soft points that a team coming down can just expect to walk away with.

I wouldnt say they are 'really big clubs'. They are average sized clubs, and the thing with the Championship is that its full of clubs of that size, Sheff U, Wolves, Derby, Stoke, Norwich, Ipswich, etc etc the list goes on.

You expected Leicester to walk the league? But I do agree the way Sot'on struggled early on was rather puzzling but they've now shed all their decent players.
The one team I can't get my head around is Wolves, not even in a play-off spot.
