What is going to happen to the areas in current stadiums that are standing during the world cup??
Will they put in temporary seating or are they going to leave the areas empty?

My guess would be left empty, but maybe they use them for something, maybe foreign media or something.

Some of them convert into seating. Although I don't know why people can't stand up. It worked in 1950.

Surely they could put in temporary seats sell some tickets then put the terraces back after the tournament. Even if they make a loss doing this it is better than having huge empty spaces around the stadium.

They're going to be converted into seats. This is the same as what they do for CL and UEFA cup matches.
The terraces in german stadia have been designed for an easy conversion to temporary seating.
