b) Cam! Nice guess my friend. 2 loads gone @ 2.4 tons, with what appears to be one load left. All to make room for a playset that we're now leaving behind.

Nerd engineer here. To accomplish the calculation I looked up the dimensions for a standard brick and also got the unit weight for red brick. Then calculated the volume, multiplied this by the unit weight, and put in a small factor to account for the concrete block. There you go! :o :D

Cheater!! ;)

I'm playing hooky this afternoon to watch the match. I"m going to pay for it tonight, burning the midnight oil (again) to get ready for a presentation tomorrow.

Phishy- You go with that mojo. We really need it today.

Yep, a local non-profit (hey look at that TG!:D ) want to do some marsh restoration work. We are currently in the data collection mode (site visit, cursory enviro assessment, review historical aerials, etc.) and have a kick-off meeting on Thursday to figure out what we all want to do. Then we get stuck in with detailed investigations and design. Should be fun overall but being a big guy, walking in muck on a cold day is not too much fun. This skinny fellas don't have the same 'sinkage' problems I do!:D

Cool. I just got done assessing a potential dam removal project with an engineering company. They totally underbid the project just because they like working on these projects...otherwise they're working on hydraulic assessments for the Bureau of Reclamation or something, which pay great but are dull. This project even has local politicians beating them up...I think they actually enjoy it!

Wow, discussions on calculating the weight of bricks, you guys sure know how to party !! ;)

Or are you just trying to avoid thinking about the game ?

Anyway doesn't the weight of the brick depend on the intensity of the firing process ?

I'm sure there's a bricks/Pires' speed joke in there somewhere, it just hasn't hit me yet...

i think the only one they've repeated was the final from last year because i watched that when i got home from work, even though the channel guide said they were supposed to be showing poker.

I'm sure it does, but I took an ASTM average weight. Figured it would be close enough for this kind of 'back of the envelope' calculation.:D Just think if I put this much energy into my job!:D
