We're off today. Last holiday until Memorial day, so I just woke up about 30 minutes ago. Not really sure how I'm going to spend the day, as most of my friends are working. It's cold, so it may be a reading/movie day.
yeah...trying to decide too....maybe Mars Imax....maybe inside and listen to music...maybe some light reading *cough cough 'Hustler'* ;) :p

Memorial Day is my first holiday of the year.:( No MLK, no prez day.

We'll be off for Good Friday and Memorial Day but that is it until July 4th for us! Long stretch after all the days off for the holidays!

Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day - that's it until Thanksgiving.

In other news, I am thinking of taking 1/2 day off tomorrow to watch the Arsenal match. Everyone here thinks I am insane about football anyways........

No more holidays for me until Confederate Memorial Day which is some time toward the end of April.

I worked for the state for about 5 years and was always amazed that we were off for that "holiday" as well. I'd never heard of it until I worked for the state! I was happy to have the day off though!

Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day - that's it until Thanksgiving.
Besides those and a 1/2 day for x-mas one for and NYE, that is it for me.
I may be 'sick' sometime soon though.;)

IIRC, the holiday was enacted when so many government employees in GA (and elsewhere in the SE) were also in outfits like the Sons of Confederate Veterans. They'd spend the day at cemetaries, parks and memorials, often in their regalia and hosting other activities celebrating the dead and the Civil War era. I assume the day has taken on less meaning not only for political measure but also as the rosters of such organizations have dwindled, especially in context.

Dreary day. Will be leaving work early to remove some brick & debris from the house. Time to make it all attractive. Wish we could get "Designed to Sell" to help us out, alas they only film in California. One common theme from the show appears to be looming it's head for us: Lamenting the inability to enjoy the improvements after you make them. Our kitchen will finally look really nice for the first time ever... and then we're outta here!
Ah well.

How many of you Goons have PL vs. AL/SL? Does that work out better? I'll be moving from the latter to the former with this change.

PL = Personal Leave for either sickness, vacation, etc.
AL = Annual leave for vacation
SL = Sick leave.
A lot of places locally seem to be ditching the two forms of leave for 1, acknowledging that many people play hooky with sick leave. It can mean more vacation time if used correctly, or less if you end up actually sick a lot.

I have the latter, but would like the former if offered. I take 'mental' days from time to time as I'm rarely sick but would like some time off.

I am not sure how many "sick" days we get. When I am sick I just don't come to work or when Josh is sick. I have 10 vacation days though........2 more years and I get 3 weeks woohoo! :cool: ;)

I have 10 vacation days and in 2 years I also get 5 more. I get 5 sick days but they roll over. I have about 8 days right now.
