View Full Version : Crew Brew in 2006?

I was thinking Crew Brew for the home opener, since it'll be one of the biggest and most important games of all time. And since we'll probably be out there for a few hours with nothing to do after that other than tailgate, why not do so with Crew Brew?
Crew Brew might also help attract some potential new members.
I've listed the home schedule below. Games are Saturdays at 7:30 unless indicated otherwise. Honestly, I don't think Wednesdays are a good idea since everyone is coming from work and it's a weeknight.
Brook is in London in late March for a week and might have some cash constraints for the opener. July 8th is a Saturday night against DC, and we play at DC the following Saturday. Any leftovers could be consumed in the RFK parking lot.
Any thoughts? We have just about 9 weeks left until April 15th. This gives us enough time to discuss what we want and when we want it, as well as time for fermentation to occur.

So are you going to take charge of this and make it happen this year? I know you wouldn't do such a thing as volunteer Brook to do this, as that would have been rude. I'm sure Brook can give you some advice and what to do if you want to help get Crew Brew out for the start of the season.k

I emailed him and asked if he'd be willing for the opener. If he doesn't want to do it then, that's fine. I just think we'd all like to see Crew Brew at some point this season.

KK and all other Loyal members of V-Army 1941 and others!!!
Krypto sent me a PM on this and I agreed to his specs.
All I need to know, for Crewsmas, is what you guys want to drink. Plus, I may need a few donations to the "brewing fund" instead of Detroit Mike's HS side.
In mid April, a nice porter or oatmeal stoudt may be suggestible. But, it's all up to what you guys want.

While I would enjoy both of those choices, that doesn't seem to be a consensus type of selection. I also enjoy a nice brown ale or perhaps a smooth cream ale would be popular. Now, my true favorite would have to be a nice German dark hefeweizen.
I think for the sake of getting the most people to enjoy, I would go with a nice red or brown ale or perhaps a crisp pilsner. Shoot me a PM Brook about what the cash needs might be and I'll see if I can help out.

hey Brook, I am a brewer as well, and I wanted to pop in and say I had what i believe was your Lager at the US/Mexico match back in September. It's hard make a proper lager and I have to say I enjoyed yours very much. If indeed it was yours (had a Crew label on it) Anyhow, keep it up.

I want to second this by saying it was the best beer of the day for me. Nice momento as well as it sets on my shelf of rare/special bottles. Good stuff!

Kaiser is the only one so far to offer a suggestion.

I'd love a nice German Hefeweizen myself, though frankly, I won't be disappointed in whatever you decide to make for the home opener. Let me know how I can help out with a cash donation to make it happen Brook.

I was listening to the morning radio show on BBC Radio 1 on my way to work today (I have Sirius radio). One of the usual gang of radio personalities was talking about how he was out celebrating his birthday over the weekend with a bunch of folks at a couple of his usual pubs. During the course of the evening, a friend of a friend whom had come along to the party decided to buy the birthday boy a present from the bar. This friend of a friend, whom he'd never met before, proceeded to talk with the owner of the pub, and purchase an entire keg of Carling for him. Now the pub owner says that instead of giving him a keg, he's now got 88 free pints (the apparent equivalent) of Carling available to him anytime he's in the pub.
I just thought that was an awesome beer story I would share to help make a Monday a little nicer.

Ready and willing to donate.
Presuming it'll be cool for the opener, I agree with porter.

Porter sounds good, then again, when it's Crew Brew, is there room for complaints?
