For the teams in Group D, what do you think would constitute a good and/or bad WC performance.

Mexico
My Prediction: Win Group and lose in Round of 16
Good: Final 8
Bad: Fail to make it out of Group play

Portugal
My Prediction: Advance to Round of 16
Good: Final 8
Bad:Fail to make it out of Group play

Iran
My Prediction: Fail to Advance.
Good: Earn more than 3 points.
Bad: Earn no points.

Angola
My Prediction: Fail to Advance.
Good: Earn any points.
Bad: Get routed in 3 games.

Easy bud, he is only giving his opinion. He did the same to all the groups. Now having said that, I dissagree with him. I think that some one from our group will surprise big time at this WC. I think there will be quite a few big surprises at this world cup. The middle of the pack teams have narrowed the distance between them selves and the traditional powers. That will make for one hell of an exciting tournament. Let people underestimate our teams. That will only make it more fun for us when we have success. :D

Hey chololo,

I am rooting for all CONCACAF teams. I am rooting for Mexico, Costa Rica, and US to all advance. An upset by Trinidad and tobago would be great too. I just think Mexico will be playing Argentina or Netherlands in Round of 16. Although Mexico will be tough for either of those two teams, events such as Borgetti spending the season on the bench at Bolton has me worried about some Mexican players form. I realize we (Mexico and USMNT) are supposed to dislike each other alot, but when playing other confederations we should root for each other because wins make all of us look better.

Mexico

The best they can do is get to the round of 16. I mean it's pretty hard to get passed Holland and Argrentina. The worst that'll happen for them would be them getting 3 or 4 points.

Portugal

Their fate is pretty much the same as Mexico... however it's very possible that only one of these two will advance.

Iran

Have slightly less chance of advancing when compared to Mexico and Portugal. Yet they still have a decent shot.

Angola

They'll really be lucky to get away with a point. But again anything is possible.

Note: I only write what I consider good or bad.

Mexico
My Prediction: Finishes 2nd and advance to the next round
Good: Final 8
Bad: Fail to make it out of Group play

Portugal
My Prediction: Fail to Advance due to lower GD
Good: Final 8
Bad:Fail to make it out of Group play

Iran
My Prediction: 3rd Place
Good: Win the cup.
Bad: Get less than 7 points in group stage.

Angola
My Prediction: Fail to Advance.
Good: Earn any points.
Bad: Get routed in 3 games.

This will be a successful WC for us hence its Captain Daei's last. He will retire after Germany 2006. :D

Hashemian + Borhani > Group D.

First of all, Argentina is over rated. I dont think they will do well at all this WC. Second of all, Portugal has done vary well against Holland. ;)

Mexico
My Prediction: 1st in group, knocked out in 2nd round
Good: Final 8
Bad: Fail to make it out of Group play

Portugal
My Prediction: 2nd in group, knocked out in 2nd round
Good: Final 8
Bad:Fail to make it out of Group play

Iran
My Prediction: 3rd Place
Good: 2nd in group, knocked out in 2nd round
Bad: 0-1 points, due to Angola game being meaningless

Anything less than the last four is not good for me. Not making out of group play is not bad, it´s a disgrace.

Anything less then 5 games for the Mexican team would be considered a failure .

I would think that the Portugues people feel the same way about their team .

I dont think that is unrealistic to expect out of either one of these teams.

As they say...it's squeaky bum time.

I expect Portugal to remember the disgrace of WC2002 and go for gold this time.

Iran[/B]
My Prediction: 3rd Place

Ahh so you think Iran will finish 3rd too eh? :p Yeah I have the same feeling, I think after we cruise into the semi finals we won't take our opponent seriously and will end up losing in PKS and hence finishing 3rd after winning the 3rd place match.

I read up on the Iran forums every once in awhile. There are a lot of Iran fans who feel this way. While I honestly applaud your collective enthusiasm and optimism, I feel it is my duty to inform you that you are all batsh!t crazy... :D

But in all sincerity... Good luck in this group. I hope you surprise everyone!

I believe this very much as well.

I believe Portugal will, win the Group, field "backup" players in the game with Mexico (as Portugal will have qualified by then), win the game with Mexico, as we did with Germany in Euro 2000 (with a backup team), go on to play Netherlands in the 2nd round (Netherlands finish 2nd place behing Argentina), knock Netherlands out (they always have trouble adjusting to Portugals style of play), and keep moving, either way...

TODOS OS CAMINHOS LEVAO PORTUGAL A FINAL DO MUNDIAL!!!

Not being able to get out of the group stage --» possible revolution in Portugal...
Getting to the last 16 and crashing out to Argentina, Holland etc --» depends on how we play...but would be bad because i won´t consider any of those teams better than Portugal...
Getting to the last 8 --» good performance
Getting to the last 4 --» great achievment
Reaching the final --» Absolutely fantastic achievment, unless we lose against Spain or a crap team a la Greece...
