Per 02/10/2006 Plain Dealer Article, it looks like there are some things in the works for a parcel of land in Macedonia in the northern part of Summit County.

A site along Ohio 8 that straddles Macedonia and Northfield Center Township could become home to a new major league soccer team if plans for a proposed $265 million multipurpose stadium and retail village are approved.
WOW!!!
No way.

WONDERFUL!! Why isn't there a Cleveland Forum up yet??

;)

This is very cool - although those last couple of lines are worrying. . .

"The Schools Could Say No"? I'm not sure I've ever heard of a school system give up money willingly.

See this post: ;)
Because the Super-mods who run this place have better things to do than constantly add and remove forums everytime a rumor starts getting luke-warm.

Seriously. No one had been heard from in Cleveland for AT LEAST a year, and nothing had been posted in forever. So they got rid of it.

There's plenty of room in this general forum to discuss.

This is great! These stadium/village concepts seem to be cropping up in a bunch of proposals, Milwaukee, Philly, DC, etc. Kind of like what Anschutz is doing in downtown LA by the Staples Center. Good luck to the Clevelanders.

Speaking of Soccer in Cleveland . . . Anyone know of a decent league for a rusty 36 year old with marginal skills? Western/Southwestern suburbs? Maybe I can improve enough to make the Cleveland [Cobras, Force, Crunch, etc.] in 2008 . . .

Cleveland would be better off spending the $265 million on keeping their rivers from catching on fire!

And the resolution to the Wizards problem will likely involve a stadium in 2008 or 2009. Hopefully in Kansas City, but regardless, that's one of the conditions on any new ownership group.
